Bah - it still looks like the last picture I shared. Since it's being glued down, they just laid the first 3-4 rows on the first day and then let that glue setup overnight. That gives them something solid to push against as they lay the rest of the floor. Makes sense, but I was kinda disapppointed when they started packing up early yesterday afternoon. :crying:

They got in here at 7AM this morning, though, so they're cranking back up. I think they'll make some great progress today. They won't run into any obstacles until they get most of the way to the other wall and run into the floor box with the telco and power cables for the future desk.

The guys just took a quick break, so I snapped a quick update pic. It's really coming along! The finisher stopped by this morning, too. He says he'll be here Friday to sand and seal, and then he'll be back Saturday to screen the floor and apply the first finish coat. Then he'll be back on Monday to screen it one more time and apply the second/final finish coat. That'll give the finish almost 4 full days to harden before we put chairs on it Friday afternoon/evening for the clinic. Perfect timing!!

FYI - this photo was taken from up in the waiting room (which I affectionately call "The Wife Room"). "The Wife Room" will have a comfy couch, magazines, TV, etc. It's all designed to keep the significant other happy/occupied so the prospective guitar/bass purchaser can experiment without feeling rushed. We get a lot of folks who travel here from surrounding states, and many times the wife tags along so they can do something fun together along the way. And, honestly, most of the wives who make that trip know what they're getting into, and many seem to enjoy the process as much as the players. But for those who don't... we'll have The Wife Room. :)

Touchdown! "The Wifey-Poo" Room is a great touch. My wife & 2 girls were with me when I visited Roscoe in 2011, luckily Keith and his lovely wife, Catina, were there to entertain while Gard and I Bass-Nerded all over the place! In a similar note, G Guitars (New Haven, CT) had the laid back / spouse vibe of a showroom but with comfy chairs and coffee.

Just put down a few yoga mats with herbal tea, Zamfir and Tom Brady posters on the wall and my wife will drive down to Blacksburg on her own!

^^ The wife room could work for the lessons. My only concern is that there are no doors on it. I don't have a feel for whether we'll have folks trooping through the new store all afternoon (and thus disturbing the lessons).

I imagine that out-of-towners will want a chance to poke around the store a bit, and I don't want that to detract from the clinic or the lessons. In other words, we might want to block out a chunk of time for doing that.

I'm open to ideas if anyone has 'em. Plan B is always a possibility - doing the lessons in one of the lesson rooms at the other store.

Didn't think about the door issue...hmm...I'm guessing that most of the crowd driving up from GSO will want to hang in that fancy new showroom and play basses, which will definitely make the wife room a bad spot. :hmm:

Let me know if I can help with anything on this, either shuttling folks around to the other shop for lessons, or babysitting the shop if you're going to do that....

Cool - I'll definitely take you up on that, especially since I'll have a two hour chunk where I'll be in the lesson seat. You can probably take care of a bunch of Roscoe heads and Roscoe basses for a coupla hours better than Danny, right?!?

We should definitely plan to meet first at the new store just to make Jimmy's first impression a good one. Then we can cut over to the other store around lesson time.

I'll do my lesson where ever it works best.

I will say that I will be nervous enough the way it is. Not sure about an open door lesson.

And yeah, I'm hoping that when I'm not in my lesson that I can poke around and play some basses. I was planning on heading up after breakfast on Friday - get that drive over with right away. I'm guessing that as there are a few out of town folks at the Marriott we may be able to car pool or meet around there and convoy our way up to VA.
