New Carvin P bass, about time?

Mine just showed up. It's easily the loudest, cleanest passive pickups on any of my Carvins and the active preamp just makes it more. I think they knocked it out of the park with this one. I opted for a flamed maple cap over alder body with rosewood board. I was trying to recreate the feel of my old '63 and '66 P Basses but was seduced by the siren call of emerald green over flamed top maple.:)

MAN that's pretty!

Interesting that everyone seems to be going for P/J rather than straight P...

I'm really tempted to pull the trigger on one of these. I have a build list printed for one of these as a straight up passive P only 4 string. I've got a few Fender P's, but they aren't nearly as nice as my SB5000, and the thought of a p that is as nice is hard to resist.

Yea, well, you see, the SB5000 that is about to be delivered is a rebuild resulting from a 10 day trial 6 weeks ago. The one I got at that time was too heavy. Carvin built another one with a "promise" it will be lighter (< 10 lbs). The lighter one is about to be here.

... but I really wanted a PJ ... :bawl: :crying: ;)

No problem. Just do what everybody else here does. Put it up for sale as soon as it arrives. Tag it with some stupid line like " It pains me to sell this cause its such a killer bass, but I'm just a P bass guy." It will actually have some truth. Then, buy the PJ bass you want BEFORE sell the SB. If you buy the new one after you sell the SB, that's cheating.
Problem solved!:D

You only got here in March? LOL Such wisdom :)

Hey Guys!

Here are some sound clips of my new Carvin PB5 I recorded today.

I mainly recorded using the P pickup but first clip has both the P and J pickup up full.

The only eq is from the bass, which is noted below. I used Cakewalk Sonar X2 Producer to record the clips.

Enjoy,

Carl
