Seems an interesting new compressor. And you can’t ever have too many choices when it comes to those.

Nice looks. And what reviews I’ve heard sounded good.

I’m not worried about the touch sensors. They’re reliable. And I don’t need to guess about their reliability. Component manufacturers test for and publish the MTBF specs. They wouldn’t be able to sell their products otherwise. Electronics are a highly competitive market. Reliability is a major selling point.

About the only thing I see missing is top jacks. Why companies keep doing side jacks on high end pedals is a mystery to me.

Agreed strongly on high end pedals having side jacks what a pain in the arse.

Another excellent review. From your comments it seems like DG hit several sweet spots on my checklist. And I’m very impressed with the designer looks - and especially the price tag. That’s a huge amount of sonic versatility for a very fair price IMO.

Gonna have to put this one on my “to try” list.

Hey man. Yes, we’ve had reports of this happening with older Voodoo Labs (we own a newer model that worked just fine with all of our testing).

But we’ve found a good solution for this.

Expecting top jacks on these mini sized pedals is just not feasible if you ask me. Just not enough room. However I DO wish the power jack were on top. Or on the other side of the input jack. Basically anywhere other than where it is. Oh well! Can't have everything

I hear you man!

But if you take a look at the guts, the component density on this pedal was barely feasible with the chassis constraints.

Well…in all fairness it’s a shame the pedal industry standardized on using quarter inch jacks and cables back in the mists of time and well before the advent of Darkglass.

Smaller jacks and cables would have saved us a huge amount of aggravation if they could have foreseen the multibox pedal boards we use today instead of assuming their boxes were mostly going to be employed as standalone devices - and using existing guitar cables made some sense because of that.

Hindsight is always 20-20.

I wouldn’t sweat it. The gravity well created by neary 50 years of 1/4” phono plugs on millions of effects pedals is inescapable.

Besides…isn’t it just Apple that’s so hot to abandon the 3.5mm jack?

One more battery to fail. One more radio connection subject to interference and frequency spectrum congestion and hacking. One more unnecessarily expensive, complex and overly technical solution to a very simple problem.

A length of thin wire is far more reliable and much less expensive.

I'm in IT. Guess it shows.

And look at the data connectors... there's been micro-USB, mini-USB... as of this year all my phones and tablets use USB Type C, but the backup battery pack I got as a gift a couple years ago doesn't have that so I had to get an adapter cable.

That said: consistency is great, but I'm glad Speakon became the standard over 1/4", and I wish Powercon would become the new standard over IEC!

My Hyper Luminal just arrived and I am experiencing the same power issue listed earlier in the thread with my T-Rex Fuel Tank Chameleon. Just sent the email to Darkglass support. Thank you in advance for the help resolving the problem. Aside from the issue, I am really enjoying the overall musicality of the pedal, and can’t wait to test it in a live setting! Keep on innovating!
