New Darkglass Compressor: The Hyper Luminal Hybrid Compressor

I hear you on that. But my "busy" is a heck of lot less challenging then your busy these days I am sure!
I should be able to get this on my board before rehearsal tonight... @scubaduba do you have any go to setting recommendations, so I won’t have to mess with it before rehearsal?
For a lighter more snappy form of compression for general smoothing out "fuller" tone I like the following:
Mode: FET
Ratio: 4 or 8
Blend: 10:00
Time: 2:00 - 3:00 (without having changed anything in the Darkglass Suite)
Compression: noon - 1:00 (will depend on how hot the output of your bass is)
Output: to taste. Probably want to be just slightly above unity.
I also adjusted the HPF to around 100hz.
Mode: FET

One tip...make sure you give the this pedal enough juice! I wasn't paying attention and plugged it into a 100ma output on my power supply and was completely underwhelmed. It just didn't do anything and none of the knobs made any real difference. After consulting the manual to try to see what the knobs were supposed to do I noticed it needs 250ma so I moved it to a higher current output. A HA! Now we have some tone magic

@keatz Yep, very close to the settings I'm zeroing in on. Only real difference for me is I prefer the ratio at 8 (one notch back from your setting).
Has anyone else had any power-on issues with their Hyper Luminal?
I have my board attached to a power strip that I use to switch power on and off to my board. When I power everything on, my HL comes on but just produces a loud, garbled, digital sounding distortion until I unplug and replug the power to it. I haven't done any troubleshooting yet, just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this. My power supply is a Truetone CS12, using a 500ma output so I doubt it's the power supply but you never know. It has powered literally hundreds of other pedals without issue.
But like I said, I haven't tried much troubleshooting yet. Just wanted to see if anyone else has seen this. Might be nothing.

Mine arrived a couple of days ago, but I didn't plug it in until last night, but yes, it's acting a bit odd. It's on, but no sound, I shut it off, then back on and I get sound, I shut it off and get a big static noise. I'll need to take another shot at it tonight. The manual says it needs 250 ma's minimum, but my T Rex Camellion is supposed to be 300 ma's, so it shouldn't be my power supply. I'll update this tonight after I try it again.

There might be some compatibility issues with a few units and certain power supplies, it's nothing serious or damaging to either device.
We have a ton of people already using the Hyper Luminal, even touring with it, without problems, so we believe it's a few isolated cases.
The fix is quite simple and quick, if you think yours might be acting up with your power supply, please send us an email with your location and pedal serial number to [email protected] (feel free to copy me at [email protected]), and we'll sort you out in no time and send some gift to make it up to you!

Something to add to the future software update list. Having a High Pass Filter makes sense to me, so we can leave the low end out of compression, but I'd love an envelope type option, where you could compress below a frequency, leave a window uncompressed and then compress above a certain level. I often use a HPF and usually set it at about 55 hz's so I don't raddle the drummers snare. It would be great if the Hyper Luminal could take care of this for me.
I have had issues... I've been working with Doug to diagnose (he is super responsive). It seem's the issue has to do with my older Pedal Power II+.
I might move mine over to my other board which has a Cioks power supply just to see. If nothing else it might be good info for Doug if that PS does better.
I have mine on a 300 mA output Cioks and it's doing just fine at the moment, I'd give it a shot!
