I spoke to SweetWater Friday. They say they are expecting them this week coming but not confirmed by shipping. Was told when this happens it’s a “ soft date” but even if not next week when they get these notifications it’s within a few weeks tops if not the expected ship date. So hopefully shipping will occur end of March at the latest

I just paid a visit to Jason at FretNation this morning. I wanted to try a 4 and a 5 string so I could commit to one. It's gonna be a 5-string in Primrose for me. Woooo!

I was mostly concerned with overall neck shape and "distance to first fret". There is nothing to worry about on either front. I found both comfortable, and I don't have the largest hands. I somehow felt more at home on the 5 and having the clarity/tautness on that low B was simply too tempting to pass up.

I've tried a 4 string Dingwall (forget what model) and I did not like the extended range. But I tried the JT Sig 5 string at NAMM and it was not an issue! Then again I only play 5 strings.

And oh yes, the tone of a Dingwall B string is amazing!

Not sure if this belongs here, but today I took receipt of a John Taylor Dingwall. Just not the one you guys are talking about.

A couple weeks back I was drooling over the JT5 models on Sweetwater, but saw a special deal on an Artist Demo bass at FretNation at a great price.

After purchasing and receiving the bass, and confirming this information with the seller, I am happy to report I am the proud owner of the black Dingwall NG2 5 JT used on tour throughout 2022-2023 in the USA and Europe, specifically on the opener "Night Boat". As far as I know this is the only time in the set he used this bass, but it's pretty cool. And it seems to be featured in JT's official Wikipedia photo.

Needless to say it plays like a dream. And when I play it I can think back to seeing this very bass on stage back in September and thinking "wow, that sounds good".

So NBD!

The seller is an authorized Dingwall dealer who confirmed it, though they weren't allowed to use the name to sell the bass. To be fair I don't have a certificate of authenticity. But footage from all over the place shows the same bass being played at the opening of every show, down to the tell-tale black tape on the right side of the pickguard. And if it's not the same bass, someone worked hard to cut that piece of tape the EXACT same way.

I always wondered if those slots in the NG pick guards would catch the pinky fingernail when slapping. That's my guess on the black gaffer's tape on the pick guard. A good stage hand can fix anything with gaffer's tape.
