You can also use a shipping forwarder and just buy it direct off the site. Shame they won't ship directly as you'd save 20% off the list price due to VAT (I see €2774,17 as the price plus shipping etc) . Funny that Canada is on their list of countries they do ship to and the US is not.

USA is on the dropdown as well. Apparently being listed there doesn't mean they'll ship.

FWIW, in my experience the Japanese sellers, even with an offer option, are not willing to discount very much at all, usually only about $100 - $150, and that's for items in the 3k - 5k range. I agree with you that especially after only a short while they'd be less likely to.

Well, finally after trying for several days, I was able to complete the purchased for one in France. It wasn't easy at all. Their website has no translation and I had to jump through various procedural hoops. The good news is that the VAT tax is refundable, so in the end the bass will be about $3,200. I'll still owe shipping and an import fee, so I'll be back up to $3,700 or so, but that's much better that 5k for the Japanese one. Thanks to Macribas for turning me onto this one!

I installed part of the upgrade kit I got from Fret Nation. In this stage it is the straplocks and Canadian knobs. I'm really pleased with these. They are a little taller than the plain knobs so I'm *slightly* less likely to catch my thumb on the switch.

The switch will be installed by my luthier when he has a chance and I will install the Hipshot tuners at the next string change.

If it hasn't been mentioned before, if you don't have a straight plug cable you might want to think about it. The recessed jack can be tricky for right-angle plugs.
