New Dingwall John Taylor Signature

I
Alright. My JT is on its way. It was between this one or a 5 string combustion.

Considering doing an upgrade to the pickup selector on this one and my current NG. Can anyone comment on the combination of neck and middle pickup? I liked the all-pickups-on setting on the Droc, would love to have that available as well.

I don't have anything other than my JT 5, so I can't offer an opinion on Neck+Middle. What I can tell you, is that THIS is the way I would like mine to be:

I don't find Bridge solo useful (original Position 1). I don't use that on any bass I own. Middle+Bridge (original Position 2) is a nice sound, but I come away thinking that it sounds like a Stingray, but not really, and I somehow never end up using it. My go-to positions are 3 and 4. Bridge+Neck sounds nice and balanced, and Neck solo is the most organic, fat sound for me.

I'd like to know what Middle solo sounds like, and ALL just sounds fun, hence my new choices for 1 and 2.

I like the idea of that config, I'd swap 2 and 3 just because of how my brain works but I think those combos would be good.

I thought I'd like having just the bridge pickup but it turns out I don't.

On mine I pretty much have it parked on Position 3, Neck and Bridge parallel.

I agree about swapping 2 and 3. The only I reason I didn't swap it in my mock-up was "less Photoshop'ing". Ha ha. I also pretty much park it on Neck+Bridge, unless I'm looking for more of a P-vibe.

I’ve just received my JT3 in Black, sent pretty much straight from Dingwall through my dealer and it has Hipshot branded tuners.
This is great news as I was expecting the “White Lines” 😜.

Well you better be careful, 'cause that bass is twice as sweet as sugar. If you get hooked, baby, it's nobody else's fault! :roflmao:
