Ok, that's about the most perfect cab I've seen (but haven't heard of course). Any word on the power handling and if it's 4 or 8 ohm?
Thx!

I really dig your setup!!
OF COURSE you dig that set up. You do recognize that 55-02, don't you?
Actually, I read this thread and was drooling over the new products Marc is coming out with. I've had my (heavily modified) Rx112 cabinets for almost two years now and still love them but his new ideas keep making great stuff look even better.
How would you compare the tone to the UL115?
The 8" mid is a "closed back" design that doesn't require a seperate chamber. The 6" driver is the same.
The Skjold/Dr. Bass design in the Tom B. shoot-out was a prototype for the Concert Series, if I remember correctly. The new BL1580 is in a very different cabinet with very different speakers, bracing, porting, new crossovers, etc.
I would bet that the two sound similar but noticeably different. Just guessing at this point! I'll be able to describe the differences more directly when I get my 1580 in the next couple of weeks.
AH! Gotcha. Nevermind then.
And an edit to my earlier UL115/1580 comparison. I'd say the 1580 has the same amount of low end as my old NYC/UL115.
Just kicking tires b/c I like to know if there is something out there I may like better (aka dern GAS).

Shoot, my middle name is "tirekicking"!
And there's always something better over the horizen!!
One of the reasons I went with Dr. Bass rather than the Carvin 1503 is history. I had a couple of Dr. Bass cabs in the past that, in hindsight, I should have kept. Another reason is value. It's a good bang for a buck, for sure. And I'm all about that!
I think it would be fun to have a "Gear Trading Club" of sorts. Guys can trade gear back and forth to see what they like. The details would have to be worked out, and it may not be feasible, but it's a fun idea anyway!

WOW!! Sweet cab! This three-way thing is great!
Deep, firm lows. And the high and mid attenuators were very, very useful. Could this actually be a....a....a keeper?? By Golly, I think it is!
Now all I need is a 1260 to go with it for larger shows. Or mix and match as the gig dictates. I'll be stylin'!
