New EB Cobalt Strings

I might be interested in that. I haven't had a chance to string them up yet, but I might be down for that.

Well I ordered a 45-105 set from BassStringsOnline. We'll see if they're in stock or if it takes a a few days. I'll have the 45-100 extra from one of my 5-string sets so I'll let you know when I have them all.

I'll be trying the stock 5-string set on my SR5 HH, but on my SR5 H I've bene using heavier strings for ages (45-65-85-105-135), so I'm either going to try hybrid set on that bass or if I can determine they'll fit the 35" Spector, I'll give 'em a go on there.

The tough part is I usually have to cut the end of the string before I wind them on the Spector so I'm not sure how I can tell the taper will make it past the nut without actually winding it. Hate to waste a B string trying.

I have been playing on plain old nickel Slinkys for over 30 years now and I love them. I just put on a set of the nickel Ernie Ball Coated strings for the 1st time and I'm hating them. They feel stiff and sticky. Has anyone else had this experience? And if you have tried them, how would you compare them to the Cobalts?

After a couple days with Super Slinkys Cobalts on my Stingray I'm gonna have to say these things are the real deal.

I'm a Music Man fanboy but have been mostly a DR guy for strings. Loving the Cobalts, big huge ballsy tone. Tons of sustain, clarity and punch. They did feel grabby and rough right after I put them on. Like most stainless strings I have played. But the next day they felt smooth as could be.

Digging them. Gonna place an order now to have a backup set on hand.

Definitly worth checking out if your on the fence.

I'm still having trouble with the roughness. Been playing nothing but my Warwick with the Cobalts, then today finally picked up my Spector with DR's and it really made me realize how rough Cobalts are. Not sure if I can deal with it, but I'm trying! Problem is...DR Nickel LoRiders sound very similar and are much smoother..and cost less....we'll see.

Yeah not as silky smooth as nickel loriders. I'm gonna give em a week and decide if they will be my go to string or not.

cobalts are bold and spanky on my tele, especially when i hit them hard.

i'm kinda nervous about trying them on my P-bass, i don't like the rough feel of stainless strings (been using regular ernie balls on everything forever).

maybe they need to come up with nickel-plated cobalt?

Mine feel quite smooth after being on for a couple days. Were rough at first.
