New Fender Antigua models...

did you try googleing this? a couple places came up saying it's $750 for the street price.

also one place said it's limited to 200 per bass. almost makes me want it a little more haha

How do you know they're lesser quality? The Mexican Road Worns are awesome, as are the Classic 50s, 60s and 70s Series basses. Easily on par with anything out of Japan with a Fender logo, IMHO. And anyway, price has nothing to do with build cost or quality and everything to do with supply and demand. That ain't Fender's fault, hate the game not the playah.

is it just me, or is anyone else put off by the bleachy-white necks on these new Fenders? it's the same with the Squiers, too. I love the look of the Antigua, but it matches so much better with a deep golden aged looking glossy neck that I see on the old ones. these look like someone glued a piece of a baseball bat to them.

great idea to bring back the Antigua, but I just can't get past how it looks with that neck.

With prices on the original 60's & 70's Antigua's north of $2000, Fender decided it was a good time to reissue the Antigua. Street will be $749 on both. These'll be made in Mexico, and we've got the officlal Fender spec page listed on our Facebook page. We'll be getting our first shipment this Thursday. We're also planning on having a rep from Fender in our shop on Thursday to do a live Skype presentation which will include a show & tell on the new Antigua's.

Play one for about a year and it will darken to taste.

Gravy don't start out brown either.

Exactly. If these are on par with the nice MIMs, put me down. I'll sell my US Fender today.

I had an Antigua P-Bass from that late 70s run. That bass was a tank...REALLY heavy. I sold it almost 20 years ago. Man, do I wish I had that back now. Pittsburgh Guitars (East Carson Street, Pittsburgh) has a complete collection of Fender Antiguas from that 70s run (P-Bass, Strat, Tele, etc). Very cool to see in person.
