EDIT: If you get a 115MBE, be sure it's actually a 400 Watt cab. There's a recent TB thread about someone ordering an 8 Ω 400 Watt 115MBE and getting a 4 Ω 200 Watt version instead.

I'm psyched. Realized last night that the 2X10 and a 15 will fit like a glove in the trunk of my Tiburon. Hope this thing gets here soon.

Anyone else here feel the need to buy a new piece of gear every month? I'm beginning to seriously think this is a problem. I did NOT need this amp and realized while unable to sleep last night that I sold off a $600 amp and will be selling off a $600 2X12 for a total of about $650 - to reinvest in in $900 worth of new gear that's probably not as good or loud as the old. Hmmm... Ya know, writing that actually just made me feel a little better about it. $250 out of my pocket, but I'll have a nice 1X15 and 2X10 stack like I always wanted. I haggle till people hate me also, so I'm actually coming close to breaking even here. I feel better now. Sorry you had to read that. It was beneficial to me though. Venting and healing. Thinking out loud. Yep, yep, yep...

2 quick questions for anyone who purchased a 115MBE.

1. Did it come with a speakon cable?

2. Did anyone buy the 400 watt version and return it to musiciansfriend and if so, why?

I was told that it comes with a speakon, and when I bought my Neo 212 that cabinet did. This one did not, and I know that this is a resell. The labels on the box have been labeled over, it didn't have the plastic on the GK logo, the box was re-taped, and you could just tell it had been opened before. I really hate when they do that, and if there's any issues with this thing I'd like to know sooner than later.

My apologies in advance for reposting this in the 115MBE thread, but I'm about to do that now, cuz I wanna know.

I just recieved my mb210 yesterday......Lots of rattling inside....almost sounds as if it's coming from the right hand corner of the cab next to the Horn...Gonna open her up now and tighten some things down.......If it still rattles....Back she goes!!!!!........

A guy selling his MB115 on ebay reported fixing the rattle by taping up the speaker leads inside the combo

I took the front grill off and tightened every screw I could get to, inside the cab and outside. It seems that the GK logo may cause a little rattle too.

I desperately "need" some amp or cab pretty much always. I have an Ashdown head and 210 that I like for home practice; for months I was jonesing hard for a matching 115. I didn't care about all the science and stuff re why that's not good. I just like that it looks surprised. I looked hard for the matching 115 but I think it got discontinued and it's hard to find Ashdown locally anyway. Almost ordered one on line but the question is, Did I really need a stack for home? I should be using my 110 combo for home, all the time.

So, I try to let the urge pass. It often does. But sometimes no. I have my current rig because I "needed" it and then I saw it in a dream. Srsly. Dreamt about twin MB210s all night and the next day traded in my old rig. Never looked back. Did I need a new rig? Course not. But it's fun! Fortunately I do not have spensive tastes, brand-wise.

Thank God my wife is watching all of this. She's what little connection to reality I have. Oh - I play like two gigs a year.

Met a drummer off of CL last night. Just took one MB210.

Wow. Thunderous. I don't go much past Gain/Boost/Master all at noon (Contour off, horn off, bass at noon), but I use stupid effects. I push that amp so hard sometimes. No problems. Oh - one time, months ago, it might have gone into protect mode. But as a rule my stupid effects will feed back before the amp shuts off, and I've never made the speakers fart.

I recorded the room, which is always trial and error. Last night, I pointed the mic away from my amp. In front of and off to the side from my amp and pointed straight at the drums. And the mix came out great. Lotsa bass. That's where that's at.

My second MB210 gives me headroom and presence and makes playing outside feasible. But just the one would do.

What a fine product.

Just wanted to check in.....

Its been a few months and almost 2 dozen gigs with the 210 combo and Im still pleased.

Im still using the Tech21Sansamp bass driver programmable pedal and just the MB210 combo. Im in a cover band and we have played a few maybe 150ish people shows in small/medium sized venues. I have the sansamp going into the passive input on the 210, gain at 3, boost at 3, and master hasnt had to go past 12 still with a flat EQ. I use the sansamp for a clean tube tone, an SVT tone, and then a distorted bass and I can cover the spectrum of the songs we play.

My settings are pretty low on volume, but the sansamp through the passive input sends a pretty good signal so I dont need much from the onboard EQ.

Setup and takedown takes me all of 5 minutes. And it all fits in my G37 coupe.

I feel like I should be carrying a lot more and using a lot more at gigs...... as thats how I grew up and what I did in the past. My back loves this rig and my bandmates hate that Im the last one to show up, the 1st one done setup, and the first one to tear down and hit the car after a gig.

I got this months ago thinking Id add another 210 or 115 cab but I really dont need to..... but maybe I will in the future just so I can carry something else to gigs and help disperse my sound for medium gigs..... although I dont need to, I think its just habit.

I have an Ibanez SR700 and it just seems to have a lower output when plugging into the "active". For instance, I use to use a Fender Bassman 250/210 and it seemed to have a higher output when using an active bass in the active input.
Btw...I'm talking about using the GK MB210 combo. Thanks.

Hey all. Just picked up an MB210 over the weekend. Seeing some of the complaints here makes me a bit nervous but hopefully it'll be a good long-term purchase. This is my first "nice" amp and I wanted something that would do me well whatever the future brings playing wise.

I went back and forth between the 210 and 115 and I hope I got it right (any words supporting this decision would be much appreciated!).

My one concern - I seem to get a fair amount of buzz at higher volumes. The buzz comes and goes depending on where I stand relative to the amp. I play a Jazz Fretless (MIM). Any ideas? Is it my bass or the amp (or the cable?)?

I believe the only difference between the passive and active inputs are the active cuts -15 db. Th active input drops the level of signal before going through the amps preamp section to prevent clipping, so thats why when you plug the bass in the active input you have less volume because theres a -15 db cut.

There are passive basses that probably put out stronger signals than other passive basses and active basses that put out weaker signals than other active basses. When I first got the amp I asked the same question because I wanted to know the cut of the active input. Unless your bass is putting out a signal where the amp is clipping, plugging into the passive input is fine.

And not all amps are created the same.

I wish they would re-label the active and passive inputs 0 db and -15 db, because thats essentially what they are and depending on your bass and the signal its putting out (or your effect chain going into the amp) should dictate what input you plug into.

It may be the pu's on the SR700. I was using a SRX550 before, which have some strong pickups. At practice I was only at 1 o'clock on the controls, there's plenty of power left plus I can always use the extension cabinet if I feel the need.

Thanks Bill. I found that a lot of folks have the same issue with Passive Jazz basses.

BTW, just gave my new 210 a hell of a workout and got no rattle or buzz (from the amp anyway - the house was a different story). My neighbors hate me now and my left ear hurts but my amp seems to be on point so far. Sucker is LOUD.

I also put it head to head with my borrowed Ampeg BA115 and finally saw the difference in volume (and clarity at high volumes). And the GK blew it away in terms of variety of sound. I'm not used to all the options and am still trying to dial in "my" sound. Got close for the Ibanez "funk" bass but still dialing for my Jazz Fretless - any suggestions?

I've got my MB210 on an Auralex GAMMA isolation platform and it sounds phenomenal.
I recommend anyone try it, it makes a difference.

I use mine on one of the platforms too. It does make a difference in sound plus it keeps it from walking away.
