New Gallien Kreuger MB 210 & MB 115 PART 2:

I contacted GK this afternoon on the phone and was informed the 115MBE was shipped out for locations last wednesday. He also said that MF & GC has not stated that they received their shipments and that thats very strange. SOOO hopefully they'll be getting them and shipping mine out soon! :hyper:

I waited and waited and finally cancelled my order. I was in St. Louis from South Korea and was hoping to time the cabinet's arrival with my stay. I ended up buying a Genz 1x12 and am pretty damned happy but mo'broker than I had hoped.

I don't know why GK started running adds about the cabs and music stores showing them on their sites and mags if the cabinets were so far away from even being released. It's pitiful to have to wait 4 months for a cab. Like I stated before, the only reason I got the MB210 was for the extension cabinet. I had planned to have it at least by June, now it's going on September. As long as it's taking maybe they're made of gold. The MB210 is the 1st GK product I've bought...after this wait, it will be the last.

I've been waiting for the MB112 for bedroom practice so I've decided to go one size up to the MB115 which should be available here soon with the MB212, so .....

Do the MB115 & MB212 sound good at bedroom practice volume levels ?

...and the completely opposite :

Would an MB212 be loud enough for a metal band or should I rather be looking at the MB500 + Neo212-II because of the larger cabinet volume ? Or is that not enough and stick with getting an AE410 for the Mesa M6. Yeah it's about weight.

An MB500 + one 8 Ω [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] now and a second one later?

A light-weight 4x12 stack driven by 500 Watts RMS should move enough air for big rock bass tone and the uppermost speaker would be ~4 ft high off the stage making it easier to hear mids & highs.

True, but a 4x12 stack will move a lot more air than a 2x12 cab = a bigger bass tone, even at the same volume. Not to mention the piece of mind of having 500 Watts driving 1,200 Watts worth of speakers instead of 600.

Then there's the size, weight & cost difference between the Neo212-II and the 212MBE.

Also, with two cabs one can be used on quieter gigs while the other stays at a rehearsal spot or at home.

And when a good deal on a used MB500 pops up one could have two heads & cabs for maximum headroom and full system redundancy.

Mind you a pair of MB212 combos would do the job too.

The Acoustic is 8 ohms, handles 600 watts (I think) and is only about 5 lbs heavier than the MBE210. But it is bulkier and costs $50 to $100 more.

Fortunately, I can (and will) wait for the MBE210. I do not want to miss the sonic synergy (I know, LOL) between nearly identical stacked cabs.

I was told today that the GK MBE 210 cabs will be at least a couple of months before they hit UK shores, I really cannot understand why this is in these days of global commerce ?
As above, I am content (but not too much) to wait for what has to be the best cabinet for my amp .
Please Bob, can you look into this and get things moving for us poor down-trodden UK consumers :D

They can hardly get these shipped within the US from their Stockton, CA warehouse, so I wouldn't hold my breath overseas. :no:

March 26: Originally ordered from MF, knowing that it was not yet in stock.

August 19: I cancelled my MF order after talking to RMC. Erik told me he had confirmed with his contact at GK that they would ship one to him that day if I wanted it.

August 27: A week later, still no word, so I called RMC. Erik told me he was wondering why they never gave him a tracking no, and he would call back right away to try again.

August 30: RMC finally got a tracking no from GK. They are hoping it'll arrive in 5 days. Sounds like a good sign, but I'll believe it when they receive it.

The rumor I've heard is that there's one guy in charge of shipping and he's obviously inundated right now.

I was having a problem with my MB210 nad MB115 moving around when playng loud. The 210 went backwards and the 115 forwards! :ninja:

I recall some earlier posts on this thread about the same problem.

I found a fix: I put the vinyl floor mats from my car under the amps and that stopped them from moving.

i love love love love this amp!

this was my first time recording with it and i have to be honest. i expected that the best sound would probably going direct into the board form my bass or using the d/i. i always thought of the speakers in this combo as being "cheap" but that's probably only because i was deceived by their lack of weight.

it just sounded heavenly! it exceeded my expectations (which i thought were reasonable after playing this amp for several months) but this thing is still amazing me on a daily basis.

Just pulled the trigger on an MB210. Want to plug in here. I'm hopeful, yet nervous. I'd really like for it to be able to handle the smaller rooms I play, but I've a feeling it's not going to happen. Reviews here seem real mixed. I wonder sometimes if the difference in opinions comes more from the players gear, ears, and preferences, or from the individual amps themselves. The MB210 has been described as muddy with no mids whatsoever, to having lots of mids and sizzly high end, and just about everything in between. :) OK. And while one person says it's loud enough for a 500 person gig, anothers says it struggles to keep up with a drummer. It's powerful, it's weak, it's flimsy, it's solid....

Only one way to find out fer sure I guess. And it was done around 4pm today. :)

Will be a week or so till I get it, only have an acoustic gig booked right now. Will probably take it to a rehearsal to see what's up.

On a side note, anyone wanna buy one of the old GK neo 2X12s with a cover? Excellent condition. I'll let it go for $350 locally. Will post it in the classifieds tomorrow but figured I'd start here since the thread is full of GK fans. I plan to get the 1X15 extension cab for the MB210. Always wanted a 2X10 115 rig. One that would fit in my trunk, that is. :)

I think it will be fine for you.
I have no vast experience of other bass amps but the MB210 seems to suit everything I do, ie rock and blues covers .
Its a punchy little amp and very loud for its size, I use a Gibson SG bass which suits the amp well, I also use a MIM Fender Precision which is good through the MB but I think the SG sounds better with its humbuckers .
I have not thought about a 1x15 extension, do they make one specifically for the MB210 ?

EDIT: If you get a 115MBE, be sure it's actually a 400 Watt cab. There's a recent TB thread about someone ordering an 8 Ω 400 Watt 115MBE and getting a 4 Ω 200 Watt version instead.
