new gibson and epiphone basses coming out

yeah that would be so f***ing cool if they did.but i really dont think they would
i really wish they would though.if they even reissued the epiphone ripper i would give that thing a try. reguardless of people on here saying it sucks.

if anyone wants an RD, First Act from here in Canada makes an excellent clone called the Delgada... if anyone likes Johnny Truant or the Cancer Bats, both of those bands use them and get a great tone using Sansamps and Morris preamps through Mesa Strategy power amps --> Ampeg fridges.

i'm excited to hear about the new gibson and epiphone basses! as a gibson bassist you should be too 
That melody maker/Les Paul Jr. bass pretty much has the same body as the Gibson Money basses, however they don't have the same pickups.
I own a Gibson Money bass, and it is a great rocking bass. I don't use it as often as I like, for fear of scratching it up and the pickups are so hot, it doesn't play nice with all my pedals.
I owned an Epi Thunderbird for awhile, and it definitely wasn't a bad bass. I quite liked the sound, especially when some half-dead roundwounds, however the neck was a tad on the chunky side.

I agree, thunderbirds are great looking basses. I preferred mine without the pickguard.
I didn't mean chunky as in heavy either, I meant chunky like a P-bass. Real thick from the back of the neck to the fingerboard

3 Point bridge is terrible and shouldn't work on a bass and barely works on guitars
the 3 pt bridge works fine for bass but I've never seen one on a guitar, maybe that's why they don't work for guitar? seriously, they're not that hard to set up. never had any problems with them slipping either, like the stamped bridges do. everyone is entitled to their opinion, but it's still an opinion, not a fact. some of us prefer Gibsons and that's our prerogative. why do you care what somebody else likes to play? flame on, bro!

"Epiphone" as a brand is not bad at all. That particular Epiphone deserved to be peed on and set alight. It was, without a doubt and by a LARGE margin, the worst bass I ever owned.
My point was that even though my initial experience with the brand was horrid, I still pick them up at the stores just in case I happen to find "the one" that just does it for me. I'll never write off an entire brand and declare them incapable of manufacturing a bass I'd like.

Actually, First Act makes some very fine instruments.
I'm not talking about their Wal-Mart-level budget entry level stuff (some of which is also nice) but their high-end instruments such as the Delgada that poster was mentioning.
The Delgada is totally hot and apparently very well made, and made for pros. I think they list for >$1500. Not cheapies.
First Act really covers alot of ground at both ends of the market. I would LOVE to get my hands on a Delgada.

The first act delgata is a really nice bass, I played one at the first act custom shop in boston, but the price tag was a big hefty. Definitely not the sound of a gibson though.
As far as new Gibson basses, I would love to see a re-issue of the Ripper/Grabber, they seem to be regaining some popularity, but a lot of that may just be the "vintage" push in the market. It could turn out to be like Ampeg re-issuing the B15 - similar, but not the same and way over priced in comparison to a used original.
I would love to see a ripper reissue.. but not so much if they do it like the "SG reissue"...

yeah i know its not,ive seen it before. i just dont like the bass in general,i never really liked copies of other basses,not that its totally like it,its just based on it,but i just never liked copies of stuff like all of the fender copies.(SX,sadowsky)..just no for me. i wouldnt doubt the delgada isnt a bad bass though.i wasnt saying that.i would imagine that it would be a pretty high end bass for costing $1500.
I'm not flaming anyone, and I've owned Gibson basses in the past, and I never said I didn't like them. (Well I didn't like some of them
) But yes, the 3 point bridge is a pain and the main problem is the way the strings rest on the saddles on the 3 point. Its a huge pain on flats as well as heavy gauge round wounds, and I've had problems with strings with the silk ends.They have put the 3 point bridge on guitars before. I own one.
Different names for the same things. The tune-o-matic bridge design is just as crappy as the 3 point bridge and is of similar design. I own and play Gibson guitars. I guess I had to put that in bold as I'm speaking from experience.
