New Ibanez (headless, multiscale)

My EHB1005MS felt just like any other basses of mine when I adjusted the truss rod the first time I received it, in which I had to tighten the truss rod as the neck was bowed. The EHB is currently my one and only bass which has graphite reinforcement rods inside the neck.

Then just about a week ago when I took off the stock XL Nickels in favor of same gauge NYXL, I had to readjust the truss rod to compensate NYXL lighter tension by loosening it. It didn't feel anything special than turning the truss rod(s) of my other basses.

I loosend the truss rod and the strings and gradually build up the tension again and now I got the neck almost straight, just a slight bow :) But you can feel that the last 1/8th turn takes a bit more force.

I really like the roasted maple necks but wonder about side-dot visibility. I know they glow in the dark but i am curious about visibility in well lit situations.

Is it hard to see the light colored side-dots against the roasted maple on these basses?
Each of the light colored side dots is surrounded by a black circle line, so they are very much visible in well lit situations.

Was the truss rod really at maximum (no movement at all) or did it take a bit of force to move it?
I tried to adjust the truss rod on my EHB1500 and although it moved it took a bit more force then on my other basses. It looked like it changed the relief a tiny bit though.

It was completely maxed out unfortunately. I believe I have to wait at least another two months before Ibanez will fix the problem (though I assume COVID-19 will certainly impact that).

Sorry to hear, I hope they can fix the problem for you. It sucks if it takes two months or more.
I'm happy that I could adjust the truss rod to my liking and I hope it stays that way. The sound of this bass though is just dynamite, I'm totally in love with it :)

Sorry for the question but... in this case and assuming it is brand new... why isn't possible a refund/substitution directly from the music store where you bought it?

Unfortunately the repair and return policy is a bit different in Japan. Since this is a repair, the store is hands off and acts as the in between for the customer and manufacturer. It is not ideal but I understand. Generally, the customer service in Japan is excellent but can be very restrictive at times (if that makes sense).

thank you for your kind words :) I agree with you. These basses sound and feel great and I am very happy your model has no issues :bassist:

Sad thing. hope it will come back soon! ;)

If they are like the glowing dots that Kiesel uses, charge them with a UV light pen and they will glow very bright! For a few minutes anyway...then about 10 minutes of slightly dim, then it's time to charge them again. You just have to shine the light on them for a few seconds to charge them. I use this to charge them:

Luminlays are almost shockingly bright. I've never purposefully charged them on my Kiesel and you can still see the glow in daylight while indoors.

In other news it looks like a few retailers have moved the 6-string shipping date to 'Unknown' or August at the earliest. I'd imagine that model is made in much lower numbers but still surprising we haven't seen a single one make it to a customer outside of the NAMM bass and the one given to an endorser.

I asked Thomann and they told me "mid June" but... I see a lot of sites that reports "October"...
Further infos about the 6 string?

Low numbers is right. When I asked L&M a couple months ago how many they would be receiving they said six. For all of Canada! Mind you there's a couple other retailers in the east that are getting some, but I'd venture a guess and say there's going to be less than 20 for the entire country coming out of the first batch.

Their website still says "Available: June" so I'm crossing my fingers.

Wow! Ibanez is such a weird company in some regards, I've always wondered how few of a bass (or guitar) they'd have to produce for it to even be worth it. They've had a few guitar models over the years produced in crazy low numbers too.

I'd wager the economy of scale is only kicking in for the 6 string because they use the same hardware, same woods and almost all the same electronics as all the other 1500 series instruments. They sorta have these made for a relatively niche sector of players at a relatively high price so...

Woot woot!

So I check my order status like a tweaker looking out his window for his plug.
I check everyday, several times a day.

I just checked Sweetwater and my order status finally changed to "shipped"!

I am so excited and hope I don't get in trouble for my joke as well, but as they say "Just send it!"

I've lost track... you getting a 5 or 6er?

Also, woot!

At first I thought you were saying "like a twerker" O.o
