Pretty much turning it into a windows phone in the sense that you can add 3rd party apps. Like when apple released the 3GS with a video recorder but not for the 2G or 3G, when all was needed was the right software. So people would jailbreak(hack) their phones to use it.
the video recorder app was available on jailbroken phones through Cydia (the underground app store for jailbroken phones) before the 3GS ever came out.

Yea, 40% more, thanks to custom A4 chip like the one used in the iPad. There's a more detailed breakdown somewhere but I'm too lazy to find a link at the moment.
Also thanks to a battery that is physically bigger aside from the more efficient and smaller A4 chip.

I was following the live blog at Macrumors yesterday, mostly for info on the software update, but now I'm very interested in this new iPhone. Serious GAS for it. Unfortunately, I don't have the kind of dough that an iPhone requires, so I'll still be holding off. I just got my iPod touch at Christmas, so I'll be content with that and the updated OS for awhile, plus the fact that there's no monthly charge to go along with it sure is nice 
I do want an iPhone in the future. However, waiting has proven to be wise so far. If I had bought the 3GS last year, I'd be stuck in a contract for the next 2 years still, and I wouldn't be able to even look at this phone. The longer I wait, the better the iPhone will become.

By that logic, you'll never get an iPhone. it's not like they're ( or any technology) is going to get worse.

No, I say that with the intent of eventually getting an iPhone. My point is that I'm not doing myself any harm by waiting.

I'll second the HTC Evo. It is pretty darn slick. I definitely would not give up my iPhone for it as my personal phone, but if work sticks w/ Sprint, and if they ever lets us pick something other than RIM products, I'll trade my Blackberry for the Evo in a heartbeat!
EVO is definitely hot... Especially if you happen to live in one of the cities in which Sprint has rolled out wimax.
I was listening to the PC Mag Radio podcast today and Sascha Segan (PC Mag's phone guru) was saying that despite the fact that the new iPhone has the highest resolution screen of any phone ever he had a hard time telling any difference in person between the iPhone 4 and EVO/Incredible/other higher-res Android phone screens. It was an interesting observation considering Jobs made the Retina view thing the central focus of the keynote.
