New Markbass Vintage Pre

Looks really cool, though it wouldn't hit the mark for me (despite the brand name). Needs a cab sim and the digital would have to be ADAT for my usual workflow. At the asking price I don't think I'd be getting this even if I was in the market for this type of product. Would rather get something a bit cheaper and use the savings to work around issues presented.

The digital output is interesting. All you'd need is something like a ESI U24XL s/pdif to USB converter to connect to a computer.

I ordered this in the US for $399 plus fast shipping. Musician's Friend said it should arrive on the 20th, so I expect to have it before the end of the month. Everything looks great, but I have one complaint. The send / return are backwards. All guitar pedals feed from right to left, and the Markbass Vintage Pre is reversed for the effects loop. It's not a big deal, I'll feed my cables around and live with it... But it just seems silly IMO.

If I could have added one feature to this, it would be a simple cabinet emulator for the headphone jack. I'll probably just use the headphone port for practice, this way I can take my pedal board and bass downstairs while the family watches movies.

Otherwise I'm excited as all get-out because I'm replacing a Boss GT-10B which always sucked IMO. Ordered a combination of Donner pedals from Amazon for the low grade stuff, a couple of MXR pedals, and I'll use my existing Eden Chorus pedal with the setup. Playing all of this through my Eden Travelor 500 and Eden 2x10 cab.

I ordered one from one of the local Canadian dealers I get stuff through. They told me it will likely arrive at the beginning of March. Definitely not before that.

If I like it, I'll probably give the borrowed Mesa Subway Plus DI back. I'm hoping this gives me the same kind of pillowy midrange I got from the Little Mark Vintage I tried - and it'll be mostly for my IEM rig.

Up until this point I've just been using my bass plugged into my Fender Rumble LT25 combo, with no other pedals or anything, so it's my first foray into tubes/pedals/preamps. I like it overall, and level-matched I hear the difference when bypassed. Right now I find the scooped and old EQ settings too extreme for my taste, I guess I like a lot of midrange in my sound. But I'm starting to get used to the sound of this thing and the tube. The big test will be using the DI. Prior to this I've been using the usb port on the Rumble to record audio into my computer. Let's see how big the difference will be with this preamp+DI plugged into my audio interface.

Where did you guys get them? I’m dying to get my hands on one.

I'd love to know that as well.. My most recent shipping update from Musician's Friend has come and gone.. another authorization charge on my credit card has popped up and then disappeared (again).. no email from them with a shipping notification nor even an update. So.. we're now over 1 year since it was announced.. and my order has been in for 5 months...

Now i have the Preamp at the beginning in my Signalchain on my Effektboard at the End i have the Darkglass Element and i testet the Sound. I like the realy warm sound and it will be now my allways on Preamp now with a little Overdrive.
