:bassist: Hello, my name is Chandler, I'm 24 yrs of age, I'm been playing bass on and off for quite some time but usually only filling in when my brothers needed someone. I was a percussionist in a band for 5 years, and played trumpet for 9. For the past few months I've been playing regularily in a cover band with my brothers, I 'm a triplet. It's really fun. I have a MIM Fender Jazz Bass with Duncan Antiquitty's in it, sounds real nice! Have a nice day!!:bassist:

my english is realy bad so i'm gonna make this a short one.
I'm Martin, I'm 20 years old and come from Norway, i've been "playing" bass for about 3-4 months now. i got a Ibanez rdgr b-guitar and a roland cube 30b amp.
My ultimate goal is to be good enough to start a band and play maybe one gig with no more than 10-30 people in the audience and kick some serious ass. (I wouldn't mind if 5000 people screamed my name and worshipped me as a god, but lets be realistic)
Metal is of course what I listen to, the more extreme the better ;)

Hello all, my name is Jay, im 16 and have been seriously playing bass for about 6 months now. I joined here to see if I could get useful hints and stuff, and tabs i coulnd't find anywhere. I listen to Metallica, PanterA, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Slayer, RATM, TOOL, and a bunch of other kickass bands. But these are my favorites. I have a beginner type set-up whci contains of a Focus by Kramer and a 20 watt johnson.:bassist:

ooh yeah i want to become a great bass players so i can rock and the bonus is lots of chicks.
Im 17 years old, i usually dance 03:00 AM when everyone is asleep every friday.
It all started november the 5th when my beaver died in my easter egg, it was also the day when we landed on Spain.
We were hunting moby dick with our red baron plains which the big weasel that is Moby dick desided to buy his ticket to Uranus.
As we were in Vietnam we learned that the elephants were not called elephants because they maybe had pants.
Thats when me and my fellow friend desided to dedicate our lives to the world of Metal.
Thus he liked ice cream it never affected his guitar playing, maybe it was because of the cool breeze that made him cool down.
The chimney we found on the grond was blue. So now you know much about me.

Hey, Hey, fellow low-enders!

I live out here in Robotland (aka Connecticut). Not the best music scene here, but we do OK. I've been playing for about 12 years now and I am currently in a heavy rock band. Got me two 4-stringers (fretted), a 5-stringer, and I just became fretless and free (Rogue 4-stringer)!

Hey!

I am Steve, i am 15 and i have been playing bass for 6 years.

Some quick notes on me:
I play a american fender precission (standard) which has bin wiv me for about three years now and is the love of my life. I try to practice physically for three + hours a day. And practice mentally to stop myself from going insane in school!
I have played some 400+ gigs with my now ex-band. I am influenced by bass players such as: Steve Harris, Billy Sheehan, John Myung etc. etc.

I'm new to Talkbass, so I guess I should say hi.

My names Dave, live in the UK, near London. I think I've played bass for 25 years (age rots the brain!), - doesn't mean I'm any good, but I am a stayer!

I'm currently in a "Classic Rock" :bassist: band - playing covers of AC/DC, Gun's'Roses, U2 etc. etc. - Link Removed is the website if anyone's interested.

I'm also in a songwriting partnership with a guitarist buddy.

Main bass is a Warwick Fortress, also have a Fender Precision Fretless, Rockbass Corvette and just got a Hofner Acoustic, which has been great as it opens up possibilities I hadn't thought of before.

I just came across TalkBass, and I'm still pretty new to the bass. I picked up my church's crappy no-name jazz knockoff a couple of years ago and have been teaching myself how to play it since. I just got my own Takamine acoustic, so I can now practice at home without an amp. Oh yeah, it's pretty much PaleMelanesian's fault that I picked up a bass in the first place, and he was the one that pointed me here too.

You all know me on here as IcedEarthWOM, but I decided that a change was in order!.

Over the last week I decided to listen to as much music as I could. The sad part is that I didn't even listen to a 1/4 of my collection in that time :scowl: :smug: One thing that stood out is the amount of Clean bass tone, even with bands like Devildriver! Another thing I noticed was that the bass tones were incredebly Dark. After reading up some more on the SansAmp Para Driver(the concensus seems to be that it gives said dark tone), I decided to buy one (should be here in 2-4 weeks :D ). I'll let you guys know how it goes when it gets here (I'll even do Sound Samples!!!!!!).

Anyway... the name change came from the intro to the live version of "Stormblast" on Dimmu Borgir's "Godless Savage Garden", and it's even become part of my sig!

Another change is that I've gone from BEAD tuning to EADG so that the instrument has better intonation! I also put on medium (50-105) gauge strings instead of light (45-100) and I get the wonderful sustain I was looking for :D

Hello, I've played guitar for a few years... but a few years ago I had a band request me to play bass and I work better with a bass in my hands than a guitar (like everyone here I assume :P)

I'm currently abusing the search feature to get information on all sorts of gear because its time to finally get myself my own rig instead of using others (ex: ex-roomate's Peavey TNT 115s *heavy+++++*)

I currently own a Squier P-Bass Special and a Tech 21 Sansamp Bass DI. Now I'm in the market for a power amp and cab. Thanks to the forum I feel a QSC power amp and Avatar cab would give me the best bang for the buck and then I'd have real gear :D
