New mesa subway amps and cabs!

I have that 410 usually only use it for outdoor shows. I like it a lot. I bet you would have been OK with the 215 as well.

Just got my 212. Sounds just great with the WD800. Round, full, loud clear. Reponds great to playing with a
pick, where I am usually fighting the sharp middy sound with other cabs. Still have to tame it a little,
but very smooth. Will get its first live test 3/9 pounding out Jack Casady for my Jefferson Airplane tribute.
A good test:)

Is there much of a difference between the SW 2x15 cab and 2 115s? I have a single 15 and would love to demo the 2x15 and 2x12. Leave the large cab at my brother's house for rehearsal and keep the 15 at home and for small gigs. Or I could just add another 15. I'd like to demo a 2x10 as well but can't find one in my area, although I haven't looked very hard.

I have the 210 and it pairs very well with the 115 for rock, and another usefull way to use the Subway cabs is to get even just the 115 up off the floor, I love it that way and have schlepped another cab to several gigs just to do that. But I've not played 115 115 and really want to, for exactly why you say. That said, I've also been lusting after the 215 but I find myself this week in a new project, where the 2 guitars always and drums occasionally are digital/PA only. The 115 is plenty for stage volume, the drummer loves my sound and wants that cab right at him, everyone else gets a bit DI besides. What to do heh. But, like you, I can't try one, the Canadian big chain doesn't stock the 215 or the 212. Their loss, I'd probably buy the first one I saw on the floor lol.

Not at all. What seemed to work best for me at last Saturdays' gig was going through the WD-800 preamp and having Monique in the FX Loop. Next week I'll be using the both SW cabs and pedalboard.

@xddex I use a broughton super stack tube preamp pedal and it just adds to the warmth of the WD. Gig tomorrow night is a super small space in a cafe so I'm just going straight into the WD. Previously I'd squeeze my board somewhere just for the preamp but I don't think twice about just going straight into the WD.

My disease at work here, but need some demystification.
I assume my 2x12 will handle the vast majority of my situations, but possibly an outdoor gig
w/o FOH I might 'think' I need another 12 :woot:. So putting a Mesa 1x12 on top of the 2x12, question is
will the 100 sensitivity of the 2x12 overpower the 97.5 of the 1x12. I assume the extra 2.5 in the 2x12
is the result of 2 speakers. Question is will the 8ohm 12 require 2x the power to balance with the 2x12?
or might the sensitivity even out as all 3 speakers are inline.
(Note: I already know putting another 2x12 on top of the 2x12 will solve all my problems :)

I don't know all the technical speak, but flip to 2 ohms via the switch and you'll be golden

A couple of things that come into play here. First of all, one of the speakers will be closer to your ear so you will gain some practical volume from this alone. Second, the difference in sensitivity between the 112 and 212 is almost exclusively due to acoustic coupling and the movement of F3 downward (increasing the weighted bandwidth). Since the sensitivity is stated in terms of power, summing a third source will increase the total net sensitvity by about 1dB. Now operating at 2.67 ohms will reduce the total power from 800 watts to about 650 watts BUT at the same time reduces the power compression in all speakers at maximum power by maybe another dB for a net real world gain at rated power of maybe ~1.5dB. There is a small amount of additional gain (probably less than 1/2dB) due to the small change in polar pattern in the vertical plane, starting somewhere around 150Hz or so (rough back of napkin calc. so don't hold me to the exact frequency).

It's not a simple concept since there are multiple variables coming into play that all have an impact on the net sensitivity and bandwidth (LF extension). That's what goes into the engineering of a product like this.

Awesome thanks! I went with the WD800 (ordered this a.m.) I'm going to try it both through the input as well as the effects return and see what sounds I can make :)

Ok. Maybe somebody could help explain this. off topic a little but...
2x12 Cab is sounding great. Recently really turned it up, the cab powered by the WD800.
Sounds loud! and clear. But this I dont understand. I have my Fender Rumble 40 sitting next to the
2x12. 0 wires connected to the Rumble, now when I play loud the Rumble's power and overdrive light
are lighting up. How can this happen ?
