Yes, an over the top reaction from the OP, and I certainly wouldn't take an unplayed bass to gig. However if this story is true it is a poor reflection on Fender's QC. I don't understand how wiring or a soldered joint hidden under a pick guard could fail in transit unless the guitar was badly damaged. I also think the idea that a customer should happily whip out a convenient soldering iron and repair a brand new bass is unrealistic. Maybe many of us could, but we shouldn't have to - and we would then have an unoriginal bass with re-soldered joints. I wouldn't accept a repair by Fender, I would return it and request the brand new, working instrument I had paid for. I'm sure Fender, or their agents, would be happy to do this.

Exactly. A P bass has the simplest circuitry possible.

We all get angry, but there is no need to bring that aggression to a forum full of people that had nothing to do with your problems.

I'm sure you have a very nice bass, and anyone here can sympathize with the frustration of your situation. It's electronic and our shipping resources are notorious for damaging items. It was likely dropped and a solder broke loose. Nothing Fender or you could have done to prevent that.

This site is full of some of the nicest people you will meet. Most of them have a tremendous amount of experience and would be willing to lend advice, a kind word or a simple understanding. Right now you're all fired up over the circumstances. Come back after you sleep it over and discuss it. You will see peoples responses with a different mind set, and not get so upset about it.

Thanks for the thread. I was just bemoaning the tedious crap I have to do today, but this thread had such a fantastic, ridiculous tone. And thanks to the Fender fans for not biting on the temptation to defend the mother church from unreasonable criticism. :D

You spent 1200 on a bass, but you can only type in caps, due to a "bad" keyboard? Yeah, ok...:eyebrow:

...and you come here with your 1st post, expecting people here to validate a bad decision, to send back a bass over a minor problem?

Here's a question for you: Over-react, much??? :bawl:

I think the OP has his priorities straight.

"If the keyboard still functions at all, then all money goes toward basses."

I dont blame him for being pissed at a $1300.00 epic fail! Thats a lot of money for a working class dude who cant afford a new Chinese computer keyboard.
