Curious to know if anyone as compared them to Pirastro Jazzer? I like the Jazzer Pizz but I could use something a bit more arco friendly.

Double Bass New! Pirastro Perpetual Double Bass strings

I am a long-time Jazzer user who has switched to Perpetuals.
Jazzers have worked really well for me, but I am happier with Perpetuals. The set feels more balanced and though I managed arco with Jazzers, I feel much better about it with Perpetuals. I'm not a classical player, but for whatever that is worth, there you go.

Is the pizz is similar? I've had the Jazzer on for the past 2 years or 3 years and they till sound great to me.

When they first came out, there was speculation that they were reformulated Jazzers, but that died down and I don't quite buy it.
To me, I love the E and A in the Jazzers set and even before you install them, they have this wonderful suppleness to them that I just know I'm going to like on the bass. The G seemed unbalanced with the set to me, it was stiffer and had less fundamental. The D was transitional between the lower strings and the G, better than, but more similar to the G than the rest of the set. I tried pairing the E / A from the Jazzers set with everything looking for a perfect mix and was happy with some variation on that set for a long time really because I like d the lower strings so much.
Perps have their own thing going, but they are not dissimilar to Jazzers EXCEPT the set feels perfectly balanced to me. The E / A are similar,. It not the same as their Jazzer equivalents. The Perp D / G might be the ultimate pairing with the lower Jazzers that I've been looking for for years, but it's been so long that I've just put a complete set of strings on my bass and been happy with it that I don't see the point in trying.
There are always things like OLIV that are out there tempting me to experiment, but honestly I've been able to just enjoy this set as it comes.

I have been using these since late summer on all three of my basses. A winner two out of the three.
They seem to have the best of the Spiro thing and the Eva vibe in one. Sounds good with the bow also! I think the feel, is what hooked me,very easy to play..they amplify great too. On one bass they were a little too dark, so went back to the SWeich 4/4.
All in all they work,I have tried almost all the other flavors of the day,over the last 20 years,spending way too much money, and I think this product works, but results may vary with your instrument.

The solos sound great. Tuned up a whole step they feel like mediums. Slightly more air, G string has great pull. NOT floppy at all. Easier under the bow. E string isn't weak like a spiro solo....These are cool.

No issue. I'm gonna keep these on for a bit. After playing for a little they do feel like less tension than the mediums. but they aren't what i've experienced with spiro solos where I have to actively not over play. And I like the E string not sucking. @damonsmith I'm gonna push you to try em...
I could tell from your video on the solos, that you weren't quite settled on what was happening with them. I'm interested in seeing how that changes over time.
I used Spirocore solos for 6 months or so several years back. I liked them, but I missed "normal" after a while. Interesting if these seem "normal", not that I have any issues with the standard set.

Yeah I agree with that. I literally threw them on and hit record. I’ll do an update in a week of my thoughts cuz they felt looser not twenty minutes after
@Sam Dingle , can you compare the Perp gauges between Solo and "regular" sets? Short of actual gauge numbers, can you talk about comparative feel? Mostly my gauge related curiosity is if the Solos are bumped down "regular" GDA to Solo DAE with a new lighter gauge Solo G. Your thoughts?
No they don’t feel like a bumped set just a thinner version of their own. Like most solo strings I assume

I really like the Perp Solo tone on your basses and can imagine them in real play. I was coming close to a trigger pull on these Perp Solos based on text comments here, but from listening to your clips I'm pretty sure they aren't what I'm looking for on my Alcoa, where I'm trying to suppress metallic tone. And this also correlates to Spiro 4/4 Solos, which have also been on my list from time to time. I think it's going to be either totally synthetic or a synthetic / gut mix for me with the Alcoa.

I've done maybe a full hour of on and off playing on the solo strung bass today. Still tighter and I still can't overplay them...well not CANT but have to think about doing it. I'm having a hard time thinking of them as solos. They don't FEEL like a solo string should. Thin maybe a little but not bad. Interesting to me.
