new Prat 7 string

Ok, so this bass is hot! I need to finish sanding (320 grade) before laquer. I finish sanding to 320 grade to lacquer, and normally between 600 and 1200 witbh oil finish.
I need to work with the fretboard and make frets. And I need to make some covers and finish some details.... I hope it will be ready this week :D

Then, I will put the bass in the laquer shop.

Ok, so this baby is almost ready to lacquer!!!

I finished sanding to 320. No polish, but good!

I make all covers

I put frets

I put all hardware to check that all is good (yes, it is!!!), and the bass plays very good, now!!!

SO, next week go to lacquer. It will be ready in around 4 or 5 weeks.

Here are some pictures... to compare when is done!

Have a good weekend!

Oscar, beautiful woods and finish! I can't wait to see it fully dressed and ready to go :)

Thank you, Mark. Yes, you know that all the construcction process is interesting, but when the bass is finish, with oil or laquer, and it have all hardware, pickups, strings... WOW, there is a big difference!!
How is you bass going? I will love to listen it in person!

I Love how the black stripe carries on going up the fingerboard!

Does making the body lower than the neck make it so neck angle is not necessary? Looks like a cool way round it.

Thank you! For real, it was pure coincidence, and I love it, too!

Yes, you are right, we don't need angle making the body lower than the neck. I think it is a more natural way to play. I normally try to make a 10mm of height, around 5mm with the fretboard and 5mm with the neck. So, you have a perfect balance for any playing style, like finger style, or agressive slap.
