That might be a good idea...that 4x8 looks pretty coolRevsound 38 pound 2x12 ($750). There are a number of good class D heads you could buy in that budget.
I dont like that their cabs have a low mid hump that dominates their sound.
Fearful/Fearless if you want a single speaker cab solution. Lots of the big guys are making 212s that sound GREAT and arent outrageously heavy.
Im an Ampeg guy, but also a tube nut, and a whole new rig in that route might be tough in the used department. Youll want to stick with Class D. Definitely check out and try anything you can, id lean towards Aguilar if i had to try it all over again. I like their customer service a lot!!
I am looking for some ideas on a new rig.
I play a MIM Jazz V (love it) through an SWR Workingman's 12 and a Working Pro 10. I like the sound a lot, and volume wise it is adequate. I am playing jazz standards, reggae, and rock (think country rock) in small places.
I am trying to up my image a bit ....silk purse and a sow's ear and all that. The combo and cab are a mismatch. What I am looking for is a rig with a similar sound, maybe a bit more volume, and reasonably portable for a late 50's guy.
Like I say, I like the sound of my rig, and have used it for a while. I was looking a bit at the mark bass Jeff Berlin combo....thoughts on that or some other ideas?
Thanks
Then you have a lot of budget. I would go out and play different amps and cabs if you can. Finding what you like used will stretch your money.

GK MB212II. Light and loud. Sounds great & it's one package. This is coming from an ole SWR fan. You can also get one brand new for half of your budget. Or find one here in the classifieds for around $400.
You can not go wrong with this amp. The other suggestions about heads and fearful cabs and the folks that never use combos, toss those replies in the trash can.
