New Sire P Basses!

First, why we are spending so much time in this thread discussing smart phones and the topography of Texas is beyond my limited powers of understanding.

Second: So it's a new bass model from Sire. I hope no one feels injured/shafted by the creation of more options. It IS possible to simply not buy one; I do not feel injured by the existence of things/models I don't want to buy.

Third: Personally, I like these. I have actually been thinking about picking up a Fender PJ with a maple jazz neck; now that these will be out soon, I will definitely hold off until I see/hear what these are like.

Fourth: As for one poster who feels the need to denigrate the enthusiasm some people have for Sire basses (luminol reference), ***? You like what you like. Others, surprisingly, have their own opinions-- which are no less valid than your own, as hard as that may be, to accept individual variance. If you don't like 'em (bet that guy has never played one), fine. I do not feel a similar need to denigrate you.

Fifth: For those lamenting the lack of a fiver, I am VERY optimistic about what the future holds for you in this Sire line.

Finally, for those that are upset that these are not "standard" P basses with one PU and a P neck... well, you're in luck! Fender hasn't stopped making those, nor have hundreds of other companies. Perhaps down the line, they will make one... but I totally see the sense in moving incrementally, and having this product share some similarities with past successful, profitable products.

I still laugh at how mad some people get that Sire basses are popular with other people. It's the strangest thing.

Why is there not a love button for comments?

Well said Plutonium!

Why are they P basses and still have jazz nuts??? Makes no sense. Too cheap to develop another neck for these.
It is still a Marcus miller signature, he likes jazz width necks, also, it is a p bass special, most of those also have jazz necks. It just makes sense. If sire responds to requests for a straight P, maybe that would not be under the Marcus miller name? Just my 2¢

These basses are PJ models not a P. I think its is designed for people who want a diverse instrument that can handle a lot of different styles of music and deliver a lot more tones than that of a standard P bass. So yes, there will be more knobs and a J nut width . I think these PJ models will offer versatility . They could very well be someones swiss army knife bass if thats what they needed. They could also make a great addition to someones other collection of basses.
I have a Sire V7 Vintage and a great Squier P that I happened to buy because it has a j style neck. I keep my P strung with TI Flats. I plan on buying the PJ and stringing it with rounds to get more aggressive brighter tones .
For me, and many others , these new PJ models are just what the doctor ordered.

I looks like it's finally happening, I woke up to these pictures on my Facebook.
There was also a new J bass tease..

What are we thinking? I'm pretty excited, I've been holding off on buying another V7 in the hopes that something fresh would come from them.
I bought a Hadean guitar from Rondo over Christmas. If the rest of their stuff is the quality I received in that case, my next 10 guitars will probably be from there as well.

Great as stock, but such great platforms to upgrade and customize if you choose as well.

They as much said a 5er was coming in one of the facebook posts, fwiw... just like they were teasing this a few months ago. Frankly, I'm surprised they're taking this step as soon as they are, given everything else they're undertaking at the same time. Communications may still be an issue at times, but I'll say this: they apparently listen to customers quite well. Anyone not getting what they want in this round is free to lobby Sire for consideration of their pet requirements for the future.
