First off, Carol only reads things that totally agree with her philosophy, and Talkbass isn't one of them. Second, again, you're missing the point that Carol looked like the picture wld3 posted above when she started, not your Godzilla pic. Had she started out looking like Godzilla, I have my doubts that she'd have gotten as far as she did. However, it's possible she could have because it was a totally different place and time. You think Janis Joplin could have made it today? I don't.

Janis was one of the most beautiful women ever born imho (I've been a total JJ fan when I was younger)...

You can't argue about her talent. She drives a pretty deep groove with pleanty of chops. Six months ago, I had trouble finding her CD. I had to go outsde the States to get a copy. So. if she truly is the future of Jazz, she needs better management and marketing people.

Amy Winehouse used to clean up pretty well when she first started. But there's been a lot of hard living between her first and second albums. Her voice has a lot more rasp to it, and her skin makes her look like she's about 50 now. But at 19, she wasn't bad.
