I like her sound much more than most other solo bassists. It's got more ass end to it than most with just a touch of high end for clarity.

Tal's tone rocks! Very thick but defined.

Man, that's good stuff. Very melodic and lyrical style of playing.

No offense meant to any slapper/tappers out there but I'm very tired of that sound. This comes as a welcome respite from all that.

The only "attitude" I saw was an enthusiastic one, happy to play and have fun!
She is a great player.

Great clip, great playing, great tone. Nice to see the majority of the comments are positive as opposed to the usual TB shredding. The presenter didn't say the future of jazz but did say bass. She's young, she's talented and she's got a great future. I think I must be compensating for something with my wacky 6 strings.

I saw the clip and my first thought was, "I don't like 4-strings or Jazz basses, but I now want a 4-string Jazz" I've seen several with her before, but this one just sounded fantastic.

I just want to find out how she gets that awesome tone. Love it - still haven't been able to get it.

If country can have its Taylor Swift, jazz can certainly have its Tal.

I remember way back when - I had my first recording session when I was 17, backing up a singer-songwriter (who's now in Nashville). During lunch break the engineer asked me how old I was. When I told him I was a senior in high school, he said, "Man, you're gonna be a monster when you grow up."

Sadly, never had time to make it to "monster" stage over the past 31 years...but as for Tal, she's playing a 4 string fretted like that at her age. Wait until she picks up a fretless or an ERB...or a fretless ERB...and sheds. She's young...she's still learning. I give her about 10 years - she'll raise the bar over the current "Wooten/Bailey/Miller" league.

Just a thought: The next person that post and asks about small hands and bass playing should get linked to some clips of Tal.

She doesn't play in first position much, as her smallish arm would fatigue quickly, but who cares.

I always liked her playing and more so her spirit.

I don't know...her playing has an elasticity to it that's really cool and you don't hear it too often.
