New TC Elec. BH550 & 800

Just using the same power and THD standard that other "800" rated amps have met or exceeded in BGM testing, such as the GK MB800 and the Demeter 800 amps.

The BH800 really has my interest level up. I'm looking to downsize from my current GK rig, it's just overkill for my situation (always have full PA support, and use IEM's as well).
I like the much simpler EQ and features of these new BH heads, the other TC heads just look flat out too complicated to me.

I’m pretty sure you are going to be a couple of bucks poorer, if BGM are allowed anywhere near these amps. The Tech Specs don’t mention Output Power at all, only the Power Module Rating. There is nowhere that TC state that either of these amps put out 500w or 800w, that is just assumed by the casual observer.
You’re right that TC have learnt their lesson, they’ve learnt to avoid the truth instead of lying. I still like my TC amp though.

I'd love to see how the Warwick LWA1000 benches after some recent reports of needing the compressor cranked to get loud. Its a shame that companies have created a situation where you HAVE TO wait for it to be benched... but thats where we are

Call me a cynic, but I think Munji will be out a few George Washingtons. The only people who know about the discrepancy between TC's ad copy and reality are the small group of obsessed die-hards around here. My guess is that the misleading descriptions have helped make them a lot of money thus far, and will be continued. Humans: intelligent enough to be a danger to ourselves and other living things.
I agree with you about the George Washingtons movements, but I still think that TC Electronic are really trying to set a correct expectation about what the buyer can expect to experience. AFAIK only very few are actually measuring the power produced when using these products. Even the most eager critics seem to not measure the actual power of their amps.
The only thing TC is doing is rationalizing a way to quote grossly inflated power specs in their PR materials. Can't you see that if all amp manufacturers claimed power ratings based on how subjectively loud they thought their amps were, there would be absolutely no rhyme or reason to any published specs, leaving the consumer with no objective information whatsoever. We are all entitled to our own opinions, but IMHO (and please forgive me because I mean no disrespect whatsoever) , the idea that TC is sincerely trying to give more useful info to the consumer is naive. If that was their goal, they could claim the miracle of making a 236 watt head sound as loud as a 750 watt head.
All I can say is this: I am disappointed that TC chose to allow the marketing department to market the RH450 (and others) as a 450 watt amp. They could have said that it performs like a 450 watt amp, which I can confirm. I had a Aguilar TH500 and an RH450 at the same time, and the RH450 easily kept up with the TH500 volume wise and I actually preferred the tone on the RH450, it just seemed very tubey. With that being said, I'm actually excited about the BH500 and can't wait to try one.
I just fail to understand what is accomplished by stating the same thing over and over again ad nauseum as if you are having an original thought every time you say it. We get it. You don't like the way TCE runs their company. Personally I think their products, especially the Rebel Heads, are better than what other people are making right now. They sound like classic 60's tube heads but in a small portable package with 3 programmable presets, a built in tuner and excellent compression. They are in my opinion a better amp than what you are probably playing.

Right it makes sense. Especially the table at the end, where they tell you that their amp is designed to never meet their claimed power specs.

I wonder how the BH's will compare, soundwise? It would be cool if it had that sound I liked with the RH450 with the added bonus of Toneprint.
I think they will be in the ball park. Not quite the same. I think there is a complexity (for lack of a better term) that I hear with the RH stuff that I dont get from the BH stuff.
As one of the first to jump on the TC RH450 wagon, I to, am curious about the new offerings. I have no interest in buying one, but I am interested to find out if these new amps behave like the RH450 and hit a wall, when you are in a situation where you need everything the amp can bring, at a gig. That's the biggest issue I have with mine... crank it up and you can hear the power management suck the tone out and add some nasty mid effluence.
