New Traynor YBA 100!!

Of course I'll leave with another question. I'm currently running a traynor ygl 3a mark 3 head as my main amp, and I suppose there might be one or two traynor fans in here. Have any of you compared the yba 100 to the ygl 3a? Mainly thinking about loudness(very subjective i know).

A HPF is a great tool when you need it.
Most SWR amps do not have sensible HPF built in and it is a must have IMO.

OTOH, I never felt the need to use my f'Deck with my old GB Shuttle or Ampeg pre's or SVT's.
It's magic if you need it. For most applications it's in my gig bag only to tame a room that is completely unmusical.

These have only been available in a pedal form for a few years.
How may hundreds of gigs did you play or watch that sounded awesome before they were available for on stage use?
FoH have used these forever so I find it most useful for the club warrior who has limited or no FoH support necessary.

Next stop is an analog compressor (kongpressor?) As this amp does not compress a lot (can I say that?) and a one10 or two10
And 4x EL34 just to know the sound it makes

Gain at 6.5, bass and mid 6 mid control halfway between 1k and 200 treble around 4, volume to taste: jamming with two not so loud guitarist and a drum pedal thru a headrush frfr112, and me, the master was around 6. But I need more compression to give it a little more punch.

My amp arrived today!

I took the ideas so far from this thread and used my Fdeck and a compressor. I love it! I was surprised just how loud I could get this and stay fairly clean. For me, it's just nice to have an all-tube head around again.

I think most 100 watt tube bass amps will get significantly louder when driven to distortion.

I think 100 watts RMS will be the same regardless of brand or tube vs SS assuming clean.
Admittedly 100 watts of tube power at say 2% distortion is usually not as loud as 100 tube watts at say 10% distortion.

That’s how I use it, but a Cali76cb in front adds some magic.

My YBA 100 has a few hours on it now. After playing last night for an hour or so, before I put it on standby and turned it off, I saw that one of the bias leds was dimly glowing (red, high). The tubes are getting burned in and probably time to make a little bias adjustment.

Hello,
If I have understood right you can change from 120AC to 240AC by changing the position of connector W11 to 240. It changes the primary of transformer from parallel to series. I am waiting my one coming to Finland. It is on the way. I ordered from NY.

In keeping with the Canadian theme you got started here, get a Diamond Bass Compressor. It's a beauty, as Grapes would say.

Yup, my YBA 100 has Ruby's.
I've had some intermittent noise issues though, so I'm going to swap the JJs out of my V-4BR today and see what happens.

Bah, how was I the unlucky customer who got the only bad one? Haha.

I just figure that's part of owning Tube amps - especially these days.

Love this head with the AK cabinets. Comparing to my PF-50T:
Pluses for Traynor:
1. More Power
2. Same tone to my ear
3. Handle

PF50-T Pluses
1. Do not need connection to speaker when powered on
2. Transformer out DI

For what I wanted, Traynor wins, PF50-T up for sale.
