Which amp do you use and why?

The n is starting to get pretty significant here with this number of respondents. It has to be remembered that TBers may not be (and probably aren't) representative of the general bass playing world, but...

Ampeg out front. Genz and Gallien vying for second place. A few noteworthy others. And some way out there. Really interesting.

Trace Elliot AH500X, stereo out to my TE 1048 and 1528 cabs. I use it because I love the sound and the sheer power. TE heads and cabs are incredibly efficient, producing huge amounts of low B bass without ever complaining, it's punchy, cuts through anything and it looks damned cool :p

Now That is a serious bass rig. Looks great too!

Ampeg SVT classic with 2 810e's. Why? Why not!

ampeg svt7pro for shows, and svt4pro for rehearsals. dont plan on changing much up until i get my hands on a thunderfunk 850. i used mesa, GK, Peavey SWR ashdown,....would like to try a Genz though....someday i'm sure.

I use a LINE6 HD750 (2) with (2) 410 cabs....LOVE the tones and all the modeling of different amps....Just my 2 cents due to no option to choose Line6....

You missed the company in your list:
Musicman HD 150 Head - my first bass amp.
Bought brandnew in about 1981 - revised in 2011.
Actually the nickel parts are to be plated new in a factory.
I want it to be as new again. :-)
Why I play it?
Because it sounds awesome (more versatile as some might think), it's build like a tank, undestroyable, and looks nice.
And because it's damn loud, and I don't even have problems with the low B-string.

I'm gonna buy me a second one, with additional cabinets.
Then it will be 312 Watts with 4 cabs: 2 x (1 x 15"), 2 x (2 x 10" plus horn),
to become the real Ampeg SVT killer....hehehehe
