New: Zoom B3n Multi-Effects

I've been a happy b3 /B3n user for years , and still I am when I need synth-like tones for my 70's disco band. But in the other bands I play with I don't need any effect other than comp & head simulation. So I tried a Tech21 Flyrig , (the pre circuit is from the VTbass) whose plus is the ability to make little tweaks on the go.

A/B-ing B3n and Flyrig ( using the same reference head, that is SVT) I find an unpleasant thinness of the higher notes (D & G strings) on the Zoom . That makes me prefer the Flyrig live when I don't need effects…. any other TBer has noticed the same thinness ?
I really would like to use the B3n for everything since I could benefit from the multiple amp sims , not to mention I like the compressors over the Flyrig one , but until I fix this "thinness" I'm forced to choose the Flyrig...
Any tip to give ? Thanx!

The fly rig is pretty flat with the tone controls at noon.

Generally speaking, scooping the mids is a sure recipe for a thin sound on the top two strings.

I would check your zoom patches for boosted treble and/or a mid cut. Or add an EQ to them, and try pushing the mids a bit.

If you use a parametric EQ, put it on a fairly wide Q, boost about 6dB, then sweep the frequency control between 250 and about 800Hz. This should help you to figure out where the missing frequencies are.

Thanks Steve, i usually don't scoop the mids much cause I kow that makes you disappear into the mix, and I tend to use my basses in passive mode purposedly to hear the mids' texture….nevertheless I can definitely hear a difference between FR and B3n , only on the higher two strings , like they were equalized differently on the B3n, since on A,E and B there's lots of basses, even more than those on the FR. In fact I like very much the better "punch" and attack of the Glam Comp +SVT patch over the FR on the lower strings, but when it comes to the G string, it becomes the opposite , with the FR beefier and more present in the mix.
I will definitely try your way of sweeping and boosting the mids , and see if it helps.
Thanks again!

Wow, that's a clever system. Hadn't noticed the stripes. I definetely bought a mono one, so that's on me. I just got a stereo adapter, so I'll test it out in the afternoon and let you all know!
Hi! Me again. I got a stereo adapter, but I'm still having the same issues. If I plug my headphones all the way down, I get no sound at all. If I pull them out a bit, It works perfectly. I don't think the adapter is busted, since I got two and it happens with both of them. I definetely keep getting the wrong one, but how could I identify the one I need? I'm at loss here. Any help is appreciated!

I figured it out. Posting just in case someone faves the same issue. You can't use headphones that also have an integrated mic (like my cheapo Sony), because they have three rings on the plug. Stereo adapters only work with headphones with two rings as well.

Finally got around to cleaning up board to keep my ocd at ease.

Thinking about using my B3N a bit differently. I bought it because I need a smaller footprint and it had all of my effects. Space isn’t an issue now, so rebuilding my big board. How does the B3N handle pedals in front of it? Essentially I’m going to remove my chorus, od, dist, comp(effect) from the patches and put them back as actual stomps. The zoom will probably just serve up 2 or 3 preamps now. Very scaled back. For see any issues?
