New: Zoom B3n Multi-Effects

Got caught up on the last few pages. Looks like people have some different info from their Sweetwater or other sales reps with some back and forth about release dates. The last I heard from mine was when he called around the end of February and said "likely around the end of March, and I'll send you an email as soon as we're shipping it out."

At this point it's likely going to arrive right before we go on vacation for two weeks, lol.

Yep - same boat here. Was told at latest exchange with my Sweetwater rep that they now anticipate arrival the end of March. We leave for Spring Break the 30th of March so I told my rep to hold my pre-ordered/pre-paid Zoom B3n until we get back. I have no interest in that sitting on my porch in the rain or for some low-life to steal.

So, I woke up to this on Facebook this morning.

YAY!!!!!

MF had today as the ship date until today. Now they updated the expected ship date to 4/2.

It's gonna be what it's gonna be but if the ship date is 4/2(?) then Zoom saying it will be out this week kinda ticks me off. how about Zoom giving an actual release date (to the best of it's abilities)?

Sounds pretty good especially considering the B3n is about the same price as a Sansamp Bass Driver!

Heck even the ms-60b Sansamp driver is especially good! Zoom moved into the 'totally usable live or recorded' category with the B3. I expect their stuff will get incrementally better with each new device they release or at the very least remain the same quality as the previous device. Does the B3n use an upgraded chip versus the B3 and multistomps? I am wondering if all the virtual amps and effects are slightly re-coded versions of the B3 stuff of new from the ground up.

The B3n is all new DSP, built from the ground up.

Zoom has stated these are the best bass effects they have ever created.

My sentiments exactly more or less precisely almost sort of .. . . . maybe

From my perspective I guess I am lucky. My new projects are still in the writing stage and will not enter live rehearsals until August and I am going to need that time as my rig is undergoing a complete revamping. I still have a new power amp to raise cash for and a few other items. Even so, I am anxious to receive my B3n and begin getting familiar with it.

The way things are progressing recently, I believe we may see another Guitar Lab Update for the B3n before the units actually ship to retailers in North America. More new effects!

While we sit and wait, I feel it is interesting to mention that the new models created by Zoom for free download are simply instruction sets for the hardware. In other words, the B3n is currently capable of modeling an infinite assortment of devices: past, present and future. It is the instruction set that manipulates the hardware into emulating a particular device, and further to that, the ability to emulate more than one simultaneously to form a chain of devices. The new DSP exists like an amazing lump of clay and Zoom is now wildly crafting instruction sets modeled after actual hardware. Big game-changer.

Get ready! This one will be worth the wait!

I'm blown away by how good the new crop of DSPs sound in other brands as well. It's "good enough" so the average hobbyist or semi-serious player can still get good useable tones out of them and they don't sound plasticky or fake.

It's come a LONG way in the last 10 years.

Yep, I know a lot of the cats have or are into the B3. I came a long late and got into the B1on (which I rave about to anyone I come in contact with :Ol) After I got it, my son dropped off some of his old gear at my house. I discovered a DioiTech BP80 in the loot. I found to my ear, it sounded good as well. Of course I was kinda slow on the programing but I am at a point where I can get around on it and make it do what I want.

I do prefer the layout and versatility and I think sound of the Zoom B1on though. I love the ability on the B1on to get up to 5 pedals in any order in a chain. 100 storage points and the total control of the mix from balance for wet dry to volume from one pedal into the next. I get a good sound out of it. My bass buddies can't believe it's a $50 pedal. I found a librarian for it on here somewhere, not an editor but, you can store, change the line up, reload, backup.

I Think I will like this new toy, B3n.
As Backsnack said we have it good these days.

I Think b1xon have same dsp of the b3n!

In keeping with the theme of this week's disappointments, it appears that Zoom has just released the Guitar Lab update for March 2017 and it appears only to contain new effects for the G5n, G3Xn and G3n.

Can one of you existing Guitar Lab users confirm this by looking for new B3n effects in the software?
