New: Zoom B3n Multi-Effects

In keeping with the theme of this week's disappointments, it appears that Zoom has just released the Guitar Lab update for March 2017 and it appears only to contain new effects for the G5n, G3Xn and G3n.

Confirmed. Nothing new in B3n land

This is correct. Only updates are to the G3n/G5n. Nothing new for the B3n. I'm not bothered by this since I don't have my B3n yet. ;-)

Yep, I know a lot of the cats have or are into the B3. I came a long late and got into the B1on (which I rave about to anyone I come in contact with :Ol) After I got it, my son dropped off some of his old gear at my house. I discovered a DioiTech BP80 in the loot. I found to my ear, it sounded good as well. Of course I was kinda slow on the programing but I am at a point where I can get around on it and make it do what I want.

I do prefer the layout and versatility and I think sound of the Zoom B1on though. I love the ability on the B1on to get up to 5 pedals in any order in a chain. 100 storage points and the total control of the mix from balance for wet dry to volume from one pedal into the next. I get a good sound out of it. My bass buddies can't believe it's a $50 pedal. I found a librarian for it on here somewhere, not an editor but, you can store, change the line up, reload, backup.

I Think I will like this new toy, B3n.
As Backsnack said we have it good these days.
I ran a DigiTech B8 for years. Very underrated.
J!

Even more frustrating to me, the Zoom MS50g got an update a few days ago with (according to the website) "72 new amp, reverb, delay, overdrive, filter, and modulation effects. These include emulations of Marshall 1959, Big Muff Pi, the Ibanez TS808, Corona Tri-Chorus, and so much more".

Wow even the old guitar stuff gets updates before the new bass stuff does. Pretty frustrating.

Why? These were old algorithms from G1on that they decided to share to MS-50G as they have the same processor, these aren't new updates per se. Same with the MS-60B update.

I can wait until tomorrow for the new B3n updates since they have a trend releasing Gxx updates first before the Bxx. But I'll feel bad too if there's no B3n update for March.

Fired up Guitar Lab this evening. Got a few new things for the G3xn:
RedCrunch+Boost, PhaseDelay, Chamber Reverb, Analog Chorus
Matchless Amp w/ Matchless 2x12 cab

None of the effects or amps/cabs are shared with the B3n, it seems. :bawl:

The B3 is also in desperate need of an update, if nothing else, just to allow you to turn off Auto-Save!

A nice update to the B3 and 60b would be great though, there's no reason for them not to just give us an update that brings the G3 settings to the B3 and brings us a lot of the effects for both that are in the G versions.
Hell, a 4th slot on the B3 just to allow an always-on effect while using the three others as stomps would be great, so I can add a limiter to the chain without a separate pedal!

If they had been updated the B3's octaver and synth, I would still have it :)

I've seen it somewhere in the web that the G3 and B3 have different hardwares so that might not be possible. However, the G1xon and B1xon have identical hardwares and have interchangeable effects. You can see firmware mods all over the net.

Considering that the B3 is now an EOL product in their lineup, I wouldn't hold my breath for an update. They're likely going to focus primarily on the new n series.

And hell, they take long enough with updates on the new G3n/G5n imo anyways, so .... yeah.

I can see B3 prices skyrocketting as lots of people want an all in one with XLR but don't need a lot of effects on at once, making the B3 the best option for their needs and superior to the B3n... I've seen some places now have them at 3x the original asking price online... Mad. Glad iI got mine almost a year ago :D

Skyrocket? I doubt it. You can buy a good, small, inexpensive direct box and place it before or after the B3n to have identical function to the B3.

There are benefits/down sides to the B3 integrated XLR, and as well with a discrete external DI with the B3n.

Anyone who spends 3x street price for a discontinued B3 solely because of this feature should have their head examined...not that those people don't exist, but still, the cost vs. value doesn't make any sense at an inflated $600 price when the $200 B3n + a DI can be had for half that price or less (if in fact you're a bassist who doesn't already own one).

Or are you trying to convince the market that those of us who own the B3 have in our possession something worth $600 (which I highly doubt is the case)? If what you say is true, I'm selling. Any takers at the low, low price of $575? LMAO

I mentioned this earlier in the thread, but I think it warrants a repeat:

I use a mixer in my setup, as a well as a G3xn for guitar effects. The G3xn is plugged into a looper, which outputs into a mixer. Setting the Mackie inputs at line level, I have no problem with getting plenty of signal into the mixer out of the G3xn, without ian XLR connector. I haven't measured the output impedance, but it's damn close enough to line level for my use.

There's no reason to assume the B3n will behave in the same way.

Hey Fellas,
I know you're all anxiously waiting. But I found this video. More of a tutorial and I'm not sure it was posted already but it sure is fun to torture you cats. ;)
Take care,
Brent

That's pretty cool that you can store up to 7 effects in one patch. not that I need that many in a patch, but still that's pretty cool. and the way you can navigate patches is quite intriguing. I would like to get this multi-effects processor when it's released.
