I liked the Deitz Nuts ad. The T Mobile ads have been pretty good too

So far, I have avoided watching any of the game. My wife is watching it. If Ndamkung Suh and Aaron Donald have been doing bad things to Tom Brady, then good. If not, then bad. Yes, I'm a hater.

So far everything about this one - the game, the commercials, the halftime show - has been utterly forgettable. I honestly didn't care about it this year, but somehow I'm still disappointed.

Big power outage 2hrs before the game. Missed the first half and halftime. Power back on in time for the 3rd. Blessing in disguise. Caught the decent part.

As far as the outcome,

As far as the game, it was pretty good and the defenses played well...except for the Rams leaving Edelman wide open all night. McVay and Phillips blew that all night long. And the Rams had their chances - Cooks just missed the TD pass that would have tied it. I think the real difference was the way the pats' defensive line won their battles most of the night and stayed in Goff's face. Not sure what some of the offensive blocking schemes were supposed to be, but whatever that was, it didn't work out very well.

I may be told go get my tinfoil hat here, but I personally wouldn’t be surprised if Spygate 2 comes out of this. With the exception of a couple plays, didn’t it look like Goff and Co. were completely unprepared? It was almost as if Belichick knew what plays the Rams were going to be running, and even which way the blockers were going to push! When is the last time you saw a team get totally one upped almost every single play in a championship game? Even when they weren’t getting set on the like before the 15 second mark so Belichick couldn’t get a read on what they were calling, the Rams still couldn’t do anything. It’s like he didn’t need a read because he already knew what the play was. One explanation is that he spent all two weeks watching tape after tape after tape, learning what the Rams did in every single situation all year long. Another explanation is that he already knew what the Rams were going to call.

Not nearly as egregious as the Saints/Rams uncalled PI, of course, and the best they could do there was tie it up, but still...

I'll admit I don't care about foozball. But I did go to a neighborhood party out of social obligation.

Talk about a boring game! There were guys there in Patriots gear from head to toe who were on the other end of the yard standing in circles talking. (The host had set up a projection TV in the back yard with a PA system for speakers. That part was pretty cool.)

But even big football fans were inside the house and garage where the game wasn't even playing.

My daughters were a bigger hit than that game.

Agree. In the - very partisan - room where I was watching, the sentiment was that if that had been a Brady ball to a Patriot receiver, that call gets made every time.

Still, I can't get over the way the defense left Edelman free over the middle for most of the game - totally stupid. You've got the second leading receiver in SB history, and you know he's going to get the ball on 3rd down, and when the pass comes there's no defense for 5 yards around him? Seriously? Whatever happened to actually covering a receiver once they leave the line of scrimmage? Everybody is so in love with their zone schemes that they forget how to play defense. Even an old bass player can see that Brady only stays clean because he gets the ball out quickly, which means mostly short passes, which means Edelman within 10 yards of the LoS. So the plan is to give him a 7-8 yard zone cushion? Really?

It's like McVay didn't scheme much of a gameplan, Belichik did, but N.E. couldn't execute on it. Just my $0.02. ALso wondering what Packers management might have seen out of McDaniels in that game and if they felt better or worse with the LeFleur hiring over McDaniels who said the only team he would have left N.E. for to coach was GB.

It wasn't so much leaving Edelman open, he's so tough to guard. He's small, quick and crafty and always seems to find a way to the ball. He definitely earned that MVP.

That being said, if you like games that are back and forth high scoring contests then I can see the disappointment. If you're a fan of defense then you loved it. This was a hardly fought defensive game with both sides coming up huge. Patriots just seemed to endure better towards the end.

Unfortunately the party was at my house, or I would have just shut it off, so boring. Only good thing was I was working the grill, so I wasn't forced to watch the entire game.

I like defensive games, so I enjoyed it.

The one disappointment at the halftime show was that there was a rumor that there would be a performance of "sweet victory" from Spongebob's "Band Geeks" episode (a must see for musicians) in honor of creator Hellenberg's passing. Instead, we got a short clip of that episode that ended up being a tease they needn't have bothered with.

Ads were uninspired overall, often confusing. Actually, I was thinking this was going to be the most maudlin and woke Superbowl ever, but except for a few eye-rolling moments, there was no real cringe. The worst was before the game in Coke's "together" ad which even my sensitive teenage daughter said "Blech!"

The best part of Maroon 5's performance was seeing a vintage P-bass.

Honestly I thought the Super Bowl was boring, the ads were mostly meh and the halftime show was pretty terrible. I only watched because a few players from my home state were playing...apparently the Puppy Bowl once again was more entertaining.
