I keep seeing posts about how boring the game was. I can only assume that's from people who don't get that defense is half of the game.

The best part of Maroon 5's performance was seeing a vintage P-bass.

I was thinking on "Moves Like Jagger", they would have brought out Mick and he would do one of his duck walks. Now THAT would have brought the house down. Fail. My wife liked it, though.

That's a very gracious thing to say. As a life-long Steelers fan, I was about to congratulate the Pats on such an impressive achievement. But maybe I won't...

Kidding, of course. Congrats. That really is an amazing team...

A lot more than half last night. That game was very exciting to at least some actual fans, IMNSHO. OTOH, I've finally perfected napping through all the commercials and halftime dreck. I literally couldn't tell you anything about a single commercial during the game.

It wasn't so much leaving Edelman open, he's so tough to guard. He's small, quick and crafty and always seems to find a way to the ball. He definitely earned that MVP.

He is a great receiver, no doubt. But him being THAT open THAT often THAT close to the LoS also points to "urine poor" coverage on the part of the defense, IMO.

Pittsburgh has been winning Super Bowls for 45 years. New England? Just 17.
The Patriots dynasty is amazing, but they're still second to six. So yeah, the Patriots can suck it too.
In reality, every NFL team trails Green Bay for NFL championships.

It's like McVay didn't scheme much of a gameplan, Belichik did, but N.E. couldn't execute on it. Just my $0.02. ALso wondering what Packers management might have seen out of McDaniels in that game and if they felt better or worse with the LeFleur hiring over McDaniels who said the only team he would have left N.E. for to coach was GB.

McPoopyhead laid a giant egg in Denver and managed to alienate the whole city while doing it.

The Belichick coaching tree so far has not produced much.

My feelings exactly. Defense won that game, specifically the D-line of the Patriots. They were in Goff's facemask all night, and he barely had time to scan the field before they were on him.

Defense is interesting. I like a game in which one play can change the outcome, and this was one of those. Maybe not HOO-EE, LOOKEE ALLA OUR POINTS but an exercise in suspense because every play could have been a game-breaker.

I love me some defensive football. When I saw the Patriots kept LA out of the end zone all night, I thought that was awesome.
As I suspected, McVay was no match for Belichick.
Belichick and Brady against McVay and Goff? Even if you hate the Patriots with every fiber of your being, experience is going to win that game nearly every time.

I like good defense, I really do. I didn't want a shootout. The Bama/LSU 13-2 game a few years ago was great, IMO. Was this game played at a similarly high level? I'm not convinced.

The majority of the long throws, for example, were errant rather than hotly contested. Take what I think were the only two end zone plays other than Michel going in for the TD. 1. Cooks goes long, tries to catch one at the back of the end zone and one of the McCourtys knocks it away. The DB did make an excellent play, yes, but Cooks had to sit and wait for the ball because Goff didn't release it on time. 2. Cooks goes long again, gets one hand on the ball but can't use his other because his arm is being held down by the Pats' DB.

Also, the Rams' defensive plan wasn't great. Yes, Edelman is shifty, etc. So double him! The Pats obviously didn't have a deep threat without Gordon present--Chris Hogan just didn't do anything--so focus your defense on the intermediate range. Learn from the Chiefs' mistakes.

There were very few plays that made me stand up and take notice.

True....but how about "In our (meaning basically anyone on TB) Lifetime"... not to mention the Free Agency Era which is the most significant aspect in my view.

You can certainly ignore any part of NFL football you'd like.
If we just take the Super Bowl era, then the Patriots are right there with the Steelers, 49ers, and Cowboys as the most dominant teams in the Super Bowl era.
Now to make Patriots fans feel better, one can say the Patriots are the most dominant NFL team since 2002. You can do that, but then what does that say about the Patriots before 2002? Many Patriot fans like to tell you out of the other side of their mouth how they've been fans way back when the team was terrible.
One can't have it both ways.
The Patriots are an amazing dynasty right now in the NFL. But winning six Super Bowls is something another NFL team has already done, so telling that other team off is a bit shortsighted.

One thing I really like about this group of TB football fans is that you guys really get the sport. Moreso than most other people I see discussing the game. Kudos to you guys (and y'all know I was kidding about Pittsburgh fans, right?)

Loved that guy's on-air performance. He was GREAT!!

For the halftime show, I was glad it was Maroon 5 rather than either of those other goofs who had cameo appearances. Maroon 5 was just totally "meh," the others were of no use at all.
