We are aging out of the game my friend.
It's now entertainment as Funky mentioned it and they happen to play some football along the way. Everyone has to rep something, everything needs sponsors, players are now brands in themselves to represent and build. Rather than guys who grow up to play football and that's all they do, guys grow up to be an influencer and they see football, or any other sport, as a vehicle to build their brand, spread their message, etc.
I get it, things change along the way. I grew up in a much different time when this didn't really happen.
Gosh, I remember people giving Jim McMahon a hard time for wearing sunglasses during an interview or *gasp* a headband with a brand name on it. Remember when this was outrageous?

I get you. Different strokes and all that.

It's entertainment. I also don't understand that act like you've been there before sentiment. Touchdowns are rare. For some very rare. The stadium blares a voice at insane volumes and has crazy graphics going when a touchdown occurs. Fireworks go off, cannons sound. TV guys in the booth are losing their minds, radio play by play is out of their heads. How does that play against what you prefer? Classic NFL. Mixed messages.


As for pre planned? Sounds like a little bit of "Get off my lawn! Mmyaaaaah!" going on :D ( said the old guy who can order off the senior menu! )

Having said all that, my favorite TD celebration of all time was done by this guy. Go figure ... mind the grass!

I will admit Steelers fans have a sense of entitlement. A winning season and getting to the playoffs isn't enough when you see so much talent frittered away over the years. :meh:

As an outsider looking in, I'm always amazed at how often I hear/read Steelers fans not liking Tomlin. Who aside from Belichick has done the most with the least for year after year. He needs to be in the discussion for best coaches all time, imo.

The AFC Central guy who still resides in my heart just threw up a little bit . . .

Tomlin doing the most with the least? Not really. Pittsburgh has had some of the best players in the NFL while Tomlin has been coach, including three of the best offensive weapons in the NFL at one point. The defense as well.
That's an insult to Belichick to include Tomlin in the conversation. Especially when you consider Belichick whooped the Steelers time after time all the while making Tomlin look like a fool. It was so embarrassing in some of those games watching the Patriots dismantle the Steelers with the same plays over and over. Tomlin never once had an answer for it and showed up unprepared for nearly every one of those games.
But hey, it's all about perspective. If you're looking for a coach who won't be bad, Tomlin is an option. If you're looking for a coach to win you playoff games and Super Bowls, Mike Tomlin is most definitely not an option.
The one Super Bowl he won, he was handed the keys to a team already prepared to win.

What always gets me wondering about the talk of Tomlin being a great coach is all times they went into games against the dregs of the NFL with an unprepared, unmotivated, undisciplined team and a game plan that didn't play to the teams strengths...and lost. There's been quite a few staff changes over the years but it's still the same old story. I'm not a hater, but Tomlin hasn't raised his ceiling and isn't going to. It's just time for a change.

I guess I should explain. You're right they have gotten amazing players. Tomlin drafted them, usually in mid to late 1st because they're always above .500 and usually in the play-offs. Coaching is more than game management. It's drafting, it's training guys up, and knowing what guys fit your system best. Tomlin's a drafting savant. In fairness, the "Prime" Pat's dismantled everyone. Losing to them isn't easy, it isn't fun, but it's understandable. It looks like Beli has another QB that's starting to make the system click. I had hoped for a few years without them :D Sorry Jon!

I wish the Titans weren't so damned thin at all their positions. The schedule is absolutely in their favor, but they can't endure any more injuries. Ultimately I think they get in and exit in the first round, unless King Henry comes back (100% or just take the rest of the year off I'm begging you!). Sad to say, but I'm glad Julio went on IR. He was just taking passes away from A.J. Now Tanny can throw the ball to the best target without feeling he needs to feed someone. Next years draft target should be a T.E. and Lewan's replacement. Lewan is one of my favorite Oiler/Titan players, maybe ever, but he's too expensive, too brittle and a bit over-rated. He can finish out his career with Atlanta.

That, and the Steelers manage 55 rushing yards against the 32nd ranked rush defense in the NFL. As in the Chargers have the worst run defense in the NFL. Fifty five yards. What a joke.
Canada and Tomlin got to go.
No one plays defense behind Cam Heyward and TJ Watt. No one does anything on the offense besides Freiermuth.

Yep, and I'm going to say it right now, Najee Harris = Trent Richardson.
He doesn't run with any authority or power, and he runs with his head down especially as he is about to make contact. For him, the NFL will stand for Not For Long.
A neat guy with a neat story, and a great person off the field. Just not an NFL RB.

It was comical when Heyward chased down Herbert and saved a TD while the rest of the defense was watching them run by.

Ben had maybe his best game this year, but when you look at Herbert you see why he should have retired three years ago.

We are stuck with Tomlin, but please send Matt Canada to the CFL.

I'm not willing to write him off yet. He has a horrible O-line, and the defenses are keying on him. I still think he could be a good one. This team has other areas of need that trouble me much more than him.

That shot to the head he took was nasty. No penalty called.
