NFL 2022-2023

Well of course @Funky Ghost. It's not about the money. He loves the game and would play it for free.

Mayfield heads to Carolina and leaves the Cleveland dumpster fire in his rearview mirror. He has to be relieved.
Then there's Cleveland, who kicked the only winning QB they've had in the lifetime of some of their fans to the curb in favor of a guy who's jam packed with baggage and question marks. Yeah Mayfield, the guy who whipped the Steelers in the playoffs at Heinz Field marking the first time ever the Browns beat the Steelers in the playoffs (granted it was only the third time they met in the postseason). That Mayfield.
So idiotic.
As a Steeler fan, I am jumping for joy. The Browns were starting to look scary, especially after they pasted the Steelers in the playoffs, with Mayfield. Now? I'm not scared in the least.
Thank you Jimmy Haslam. I'm happy you have no clue how to run a football team.
To the tried and true Browns fans, I'm sorry. I really am.

From an article on ESPN: "We want to thank Baker for all his contributions to the Cleveland Browns," owners Dee and Jimmy Haslam said in a statement. "From the moment he was drafted, he gave his all for this organization and this city. With his fierce competitive spirit, he excited the fanbase and accomplished things that no player at his position had done in Cleveland for a very long time. He also made a difference in the community, whether it was hosting events at the Boys and Girls Club, honoring our troops, supporting the Special Olympics as well as countless other charitable endeavors. We are grateful for everything he did for this organization and wish him and Emily well in the future."

Tell me Dee and Jimmy, why again did you trade him away?

-Mike

I'm conflicted about the Haslams. I think they are arrogant and ignorant about running the Browns. On the other hand, they saved the Columbus Crew (MLS) when Anthony Precourt tried to move the team to Austin and finagled financing a new stadium. They know nothing about soccer, so stay pretty hands off, which is a good thing.

Yeah, they screwed up an iron ball with a rubber hammer.

The Panthers made a heck of a deal, too. The Browns have to eat the majority of Baker's guaranteed salary and some of the remainder is laid off as performance incentives. And, they only had to give up a 4th/5th draft pick.
So much for Mayfield in Seattle. If Carolina could get such a sweet deal, why didn't the Seahawks go for it? My take is that they may be dumping salary in preparation for a sale of the team.

Heinz Field no longer; Steelers rename stadium
Yep, the Steelers have become some greedy sellouts too. Naming your stadium after a company in Michigan while kicking to the curb the stadium sponsor that's been around longer than you have? Lame.
Everyone the world over knows the name Heinz and many know where it's from. Acrisure? Umm, no.

C'mon, everyone in Pittsburgh has a connection to some insurance company from Michigan. What a fine tradition.

I feel ya. Miller Park is now American Family Field. So my 2 favorite teams went from local brands to insurance companies. Meh.
