Whelp, round one of the draft is history.
The Steelers are officially in the Kenny Pickett era.
I can't say it would have been my choice, but, sharing Heinz Field with Pitt, they have seen a lot of Pickett and know what they are getting.
Extremely thin QB class this year. I saw a couple of Pitt games this year and if you're gonna draft one he may as well be it this year.
Although I'm somewhat optimistic that Mitchell Trubisky will be better than most expect him to be, I can see where he might get a quick hook in favor of Pickett if things don't start out so good. Despite Big Ben's decline these past few years, I'm curious to see how Tomlin handles not having a franchise QB for the first time.

Looking at the guy's emotional response to the Steelers drafting him, I can only wish him well. It clearly means a great deal to him.
Seattle picked up a tackle last night. Hopefully that means they will keep building the O-line.
And it does seem like Mayfield is going to be headed to Seattle.

How does it seem that Mayfield will be in Seattle? If he is, he will probably get there by waiver wire.
I keep reading that the Seahawks are waiting for the Browns to give up waiting for a suitor and to let Mayfield go. It ought to happen soon after the draft.
As with everything in this life, I may be wrong.

The Seahawks are shedding salary at the moment, and they are amassing draft picks, so I don't see them trading for Mayfield. Your scenario is about what I was expecting. Mayfield gets cut and Seattle picks him up right quick. He would get to play behind a better Seahawk line than Wilson ever played behind, which is a bit of a shame for Wilson.
My happiest ironic NFL daydream at the moment is for Mayfield to win a Superbowl in Seattle this coming season.
Pickett's career will end before it starts if the Steelers put him out there behind that offensive line as it is today.

I'm all for Mayfield and the Seahawks doing well.
And as you can imagine, I look forward to the Wilson-led Broncos doing some very good things this year and in coming years.
Judging from the draft, Tomlin must not be worried about the O-line.

It's obvious Pickett is going to be the starter and it's going to ruin his career playing behind that line.

They did pick up a couple of O-line guys in free agency, but I'm not confident they will be an upgrade. Maybe there is more to be had in FA. I don't follow all that closely.

The Bears are following a similar bad path.
Well, I guess some teams get it and some don't. Pittsburgh went through it with Ben at the beginning. I remember the years when Ben led the league as the most sacked QB. Some of it was him holding the ball too long, but still he got whacked around for years.
I figured they'd know better with Pickett. Guess not.

Satisfied with the Packers draft. I still believe D wins championships and loading up with two 1st round studs will only help.
