Looks like Mayfield may be on the outside looking in if he doesn't find a starting job soon. Cleveland already signed a backup for Watson, so that's it for Mayfield in Cleveland.
What NFL teams are left that need a QB? Seattle seems to think Lock is their guy according to some reports. I'm not seeing it, and with Carroll being a defensive minded coach, it doesn't seem to me like he has it in him to develop a QB.
Crab Legs Winston is back in New Orleans as their guy.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Mayfield in Seattle. Everything was all set in Seattle until all of a sudden it wasn't with Wilson. Same thing could be happening here, although the Seahawks maybe hoarding draft picks for the moment.
I like Mariota as a person, but I don't think he has a lock on the starter's job. He was 29-32 as a starter on the Titans, including 9-10 his last two seasons there when Derrick Henry was the full-time starting RB.
The Saints aren't going anywhere with Winston as the starter. Better than Taysom Hill, but that's not saying a lot.
Agreed on Lock. Careless with the ball and immature off the field.
Hoarding a big pile of picks for the next head coach? Carroll is approaching the end of his career and they've already cleaned house on the field.
That could make the job even more enticing knowing there's a pile of draft picks waiting for you.

The Browns really blew it this time around. I suspect Mayfield will return to form now that he's healing. Yeah, he's got a brash personality, but I don't see that as a negative.
Lost a lot of respect for Cleveland. Don't know how you can be so desperate. The allegations, while not determined to be criminal, will surely affect the team somehow and the NFL will take action (Roethlisberger). Then the fully guaranteed 230mil. Disgusting.
If the signing of JuJu made Tyreek expendable, Kansas City made a bad choice between those two.

I've watched Drew Lock. I've watched Minshew. I've seem Mayfield. There is NO contest - I'd start Minshew over anyone on Seattle's roster, and I'd rather give him the chance than try and re-tread the oft-injured Mayfield.
Minshew played well on the worst team in football (Jax) with an outstanding TD to interception ratio, and Lock's record is the opposite. Give Minshew a Pete Carroll offense to run and you're a serious opponent.

But it helps that I'm biased in favor of the best player. Lock is a good guy, but not the answer. He's a backup.
You *might* consider Mayfield as a possible equal, but he's a heckuva lot more expensive than Minshew. Financial prudence says to sign the less-injured, less-expensive QB with at last equal ability, and who would be a MUCH bigger attendance draw.
I'm still a little bummed about this. Obviously they needed to free some cap space after the new Rodgers contract dropped.
Way back when, I was a Browns fan. Then they moved the team to Baltimore and became the Ravens. Found a new team in a Packers. So I've disliked the Browns for decades...
...mainly because of this. Their front office sucks.
Pete Carroll is going to run the ball first, second, probably third, and likely fourth. Any QB that lines up behind what is left of that offensive line needs to be great at handing it off and not making mistakes.

Pittsburgh has been a WR diva factory for years. I don't recall the last guy who left and went on to a successful career somewhere else. I fully understand people may define 'successful' differently than I do.

I disagree Mike. The Offer was too good to pass up. It nearly reminds me of that famous haul the Cowboys got, and built a dynasty around.
Meanwhile Hill's future looks like this .. with that amazing Tua arm strength . . .

Tua's arm strength is much better than most think. Go look at his college tape. In Miami, he has been forced to get rid of the ball in a hurry so rarely has he been able to throw downfield. On top of that, he should never played his rookie year except some mop up duty, his hip was not ready at that point. Then he played most of last year with a couple busted up ribs and a broken finger on his throwing hand. All courtesy of the right tackle letting him get creamed at the beginning of the 1st Bills game.
It comes down to this with him now, Grier has addressed just about as much as one could in the offseason and given better protection and better skill position players. If Tua does not show much better this year they WILL draft his replacement next year. That's why they have two 1st round picks in the bank next year so they can package them with others to move up and get a different QB. So it's all about Tua this year.
