NFL 2024-2025

I guess Russ gave everyone his "the world shines in Pittsburgh and all the people here are wonderful (and he names 10 or so) and all I want to do is win and oh yeah godisgood...." speech. They played part of it back. You could play it again and say the names of the players he named in Denver and it would be the same speech, basically word for word. He seems to have totally bought into his positive speech. He also wouldn't admit he wanted to be the starter. He does become phony-sounding after a short listen.

That got really, really old in Denver. At least he didn't say "Let's ride!" Maybe in Pittsburgh is "Let's weld," or Let's smelt."

It will be real interesting to see if he beats Fields for the starting job.
smelt... mmmm.... yum

Chin up, Steelers fans. At least your team isn't the Browns.

This is what happens when you have some deep pocket schyster owning a football team who has zero clue about football.
The disappointing thing about this is Browns fans are stuck sitting through this embarrassment. They deserve better, much better.

Where I live, I have a lot of friends and acquaintances who are Browns fans. They thought they were getting somewhere with the team and Baker, even if he did have his limitations. No one I talked to thought Watson should be brought in under any contract, let alone the boondoggle he pulled on them.

I was one of those Browns fans who became a Mayfield fan pretty fast. The Browns doomed themselves again. I thought they had turned a corner, but they became the post-expansion Browns again. Marion Motley, Lou Groza, and Otto Graham must all be spinning fast enough to take flight these days.

Totally agree. I remember talking to my uncle after that playoff game and him telling me we better get used to this since Cleveland is on their way back.
Then poof, gone. Sad.

I sure hope the Bears don't pick Caleb Williams. I don't think he'll amount to much in the NFL. He's more about himself than playing football.
Bo Nix I think will be better than all of them, and Penix if those previous injuries don't come back on him.

The Bears are not a team that's allowed to have a franchise quarterback. It's written in scripture or the Constitution or somewhere. So, whoever they pick will wash out or get traded. They should draft a middle linebacker and have him play quarterback.

Bo Nix who ran from the SEC and his dad's alma mater?;) In terms of ability, I don't see him working out well. I don't think he has the arm strength to make outside passes in NFL-type coverage.

I have concerns about Williams as well. He can be selfish. He didn't seem to come up big in some of the biggest games. That said, he was under the gun a lot because USC's defense was terrible.

Jaden Daniels might be the best of the bunch, despite his really unfortunate quote about wanting to be the best running QB ever. He's delivered through the air and on the ground against good defenses. He's going to have to hit the weight room, though--6'4", 210 is pretty slim by NFL standards.

Jaden Daniels who ran from the Pac-12?
All these kids now are going to bounce around wherever they need to so they can promote their brand, as evidenced by the reason Daniels said he left ASU, to showcase himself. He put up flashy numbers, but he isn't going to amount to much of anything in the NFL either. He will however accomplish his goal and make millions and millions of dollars.
I don't think the NFL is much about playing football anymore. Sure, they play the games on the various days of the week, but that isn't the priority. It was a couple years ago I started to realize the shift, and each year it gets more and more like that. The NFL has passed me by, but they don't care since there are thousands of influencers and whatnot ready to spend money on NFL merchandise.
Nix will be a legit NFL QB longer than Daniels and Williams. Penix, McCarthy, and Maye will too.

The fate of top QB prospects the past several years has shown predicting success in the NFL is a fool's game. 2021, for example...

That's a great article. It's different nowadays because the players aren't coming into the league humble and hungry.
I don't question the physical talent, but they don't have the other parts of the game down and I don't think they care to in some cases.
