NFL 2024-2025

Pittsburgh is all done in the draft. No Kedon Slovis, but that's ok. Maybe he can be an undrafted free agent.
Their last pick was a 6'3" DB from Texas, so a winner. That's nice.

I was watching a post-draft show. Can't remember whether it was last night or today. (How pathetic is that?!!) Anyway, Cynthia Freland asked Brian Baldinger which team he felt "won" the draft. Baldy replied, "The Steelers." He then opined that they got the best Center and the best linebacker in the draft. I'm not sure about all that, but found it interesting.

Several people talked about Payton Wilson being such a good linebacker, but because of his past injuries, he fell hard. Probably not a bad risk to take him. He's a former Bednarik AND Butkus award winner. I'm sure pulling for him.

What I’m reading is exactly what I’m feeling. Like we blew a hole that will take us 2-3 years to climb out of.
Super disappointed but as a Falcs fan I just want to get my hopes up.
Trading a 3rd to nice up to pick a guy who is arguably a 4-5 didn’t help.

You're going to love Penix @Killing Floor. I'll be pulling for y'all when he starts playing.
The previous injuries I think influenced opinions as well as his age, but you're getting a mature man who wants to play and throws a beautiful ball almost effortlessly.

-Mike
He sure DOES throw a nice ball! And he can throw it far, as well.

I think Penix is a high ceiling player. If we simply drafted him I think that would be great. The issue is the duality that he won’t play for minimum of 2 full seasons, possibly 3 if Cousins does well. But we locked all our cap space into Kirk so we will be unable to close any high performing defenders or receiver this year or next year.
We solved the 1 problem twice and face the possibility of not solving the pressure problem for a couple more seasons. I like Penix. I like Cousins. We spent #8 on a backup. The 2 reasons we picked top 8 4 years in a row are quarterback and pass rush.

But yes, I am excited to see him develop and play in the future.

Yeah and the Steelers have problems keeping their linebackers healthy. :(

I'm pretty happy with their draft overall. You can't get everything you want for Christmas, but they did well.

I'm pleased with the Titans draft, over-all. I know the 2nd rounder is controversial but I think the mentor help he'll get from Simmons (who had character issues of his own coming into the league) has me hopeful his immaturity can be curbed. My biggest fear is he becomes another Haynesworth. @MJ5150 I like the tape on James Williams. Thoughts on him? Jha'Quan is a fantastic, sneaky good pick especially with the new kick-off rules. As a Michigan fan I liked the Harrell pick. Rd 7 and we're getting pedigree, coupled with a very smart player. He was a swiss-army knife for the wolverines and had some success. Not too shabby.

I christened the Titans effort The Arby's Draft. They've got the BEEF!

I like Penix a whole lot. But it's really bizarre for Atlanta to pick him when they just gave Kirk Cousins $100 million in guaranteed money and they have a lot of other needs they could address with the #8 pick. Penix is also going to be, at the very least, 26 years old before he gets the full time starting position.
He's probably going to take over sooner rather than later. Just a hunch. It will be like 2012 in Seattle.

Kirk will get killed because he inhaled the cap space. Penix won't get killed. Until Kirk goes down.

Your defensive pressure and hit and drop rate basically doubled. Good draft. Y’all are going to be really happy with Sweat. He may not be 4.4 fast but he is an anchor and he’ll push the hole wide open.

true story, when my daughter was born I went with a nurse and cleaned her up and carried her to “meet” mom and the TV was on in the LDR. Air McNair slipped through a gap and the first words my kid heard from mom “Go Titans, Touchdown!” We have never let her forget that. Not “hello” or some cute baby thing. Runs deep.

I think it’s fair to have concerns about Penix’s health but he did fine last year. Hopefully by the time he plays season games he’ll be stronger too. I have concerns we may lose picks over tampering, Kirk is an idiot for running his mouth. Any time I hear about him not being treated fairly with the Penix surprise my reply is he probably cost us his guard next year.

I haven't figured out Seattle's draft. They got a few pieces they needed badly, but then they added a couple cornerbacks. I thought their cornerbacks were decent this year. They were beleaguered because the pass rush wasn't great and the run defense was abysmal. More cornerbacks doesn't exactly solve those problems. What what do I know?

I know it's baseball and the Mariners haven't washed out to hopelessness. Until that happens, football just doesn't matter.

Man, if Pennix had a body to go with his heart and football I.Q. I'd say he has a real shot @ being the best QB out of this draft. He still might given the mentoring he'll be getting this upcoming season from Cousins who has made a career out of grinding. I'm pulling for the kid either way.

Cousins has always been good (especially at getting outrageous contracts), not great. Penix is good right now, with the potential to be truly great.

There's also this: In Minnesota, Cousins was famous for routinely taking Tuesdays off, in-season, for "family time". If he pulls that stunt in Atlanta, then on Tuesdays, Penix will be working with the 1s, and everyone will get to see him throwing lasers all over the field. That will surely divide the locker room big time.

Yeah, I don't think Cousins will be around long in Atlanta. When you have these rich owners, they don't care what they have to throw away money wise to get what they want.
Cousins gets paid and moves on. I doubt he'll complain about that anymore than Russell Wilson did. Now I just need to figure out how to get my employer to pay me to not work for them. :)
