It's not so much you, but in general it seems that players swap teams with no regards to loyalty to a team whatsoever, and it's brushed off as all being a part of the "business".
But, because Favre takes his time with a life altering decision (like, oh I don't know...maybe or maybe not ever playing football again after a wonderful career), somehow that's not part of the business of football, and it's just selfish and he's not being a team player.
How selfish was he when he played that Monday night game after his dad died? Or, when he played that Monday night game against the Bears when his ankle was all tore up. Or, how about playing an entire season when his wife had cancer, or when his friend's and family were hit by Katrina (and kudos to all the players who carried on despite it)...or finishing and winning a game after he got a concussion and was spitting up blood? How selfish was he when he redid his contract numerous times to keep good players in Green Bay?
I can't think of a more excusable time to let him be selfish than this decision he's making. He's at the end of his career. Once he calls it quits, he may regret it. Of course as bad as Green Bay is this year he may regret playing another year too.
He's not really hurting the Packers by holding out on a decision. I've been following it all quite closely for a few years now (not just this year when ESPN seems to think it makes for good copy). Management knew for quite some time this was going to happen. Rogers has been to McCarthy's QB camp already and is getting primed to be the QB. And Thompson may very well take a QB at no.5 whether Favre is back for another year or not, because either way Favre is not the future of the ballclub. He may be it's present and everyone concerned wants him back because without him the Packers would really stink. Without him last year they probably would have had the no. 1 pick this year. And the way it looks, without Favre, the Pack might get consecutive no. 1's, because they are THAT bad without him.

Being accustomed to winning seasons doesn't make you soft in the head, it's the notion that the Pack will have them in the near future.
My fond memories of Bart Starr (as coach), Forrest Gregg, Lindy Infante are returning to the present. That was such a great time.
As far as the SuperBowl Shuffle, the great aria of professional football. The predecessor to modern hip-hop and inspiration to MCs and DJs around the globe. An amazing song indeed.

I can not agree more to this. It's one of the reasons I like Pittsburgh. It was a main reason I was a huge Utah Jazz fan too, back when I followed basketball. The days of Malone and Stockton playing (at least up till that point) their whole careers in Utah. That was before Malone went to the (cough, cough, puke, puke) Lakers! :scowl:Sundogue said:

All of the other teams have new coaches.
Favre doesn't know what to do!

The ViQueens lost Dante and are relying on Brad "Can't move to save his life" Johnson to be the man.
The Bears key players are signed up for the next three years and are only gonna get better.
We got a decent backup or starter however you want to look at it in Brian Griese.
Lovie set a few goals when he took this job. Beat the Packers, win the division, make the playoffs, and win the Super Bowl. He only has one goal left to accomplish.

Favre's signing bonus and salary this year will create a large cap hit on the team. The amount of cap space available will determine who and what they will go after, and how aggressively to pursue. With Favre, there's a delta of $10 mil this year depending on his decision. That makes it hard for management to determine who, what, and how to go after players. Do you aggressively sign a player in anticipation of Favre retiring, and then face a salary cap penalty because you went over the cap because Favre changed his mind? Or do you assume that the team will take a $10 mil cap hit cuz Favre is staying, and be conservative with your cap space? If you're wrong in this scenario, then you lost out on some top free agents that went to other teams and get an aging QB for one more season of glory.
A free agent doesn't know what kind of team they are signing onto with the Packers. If Favre's still on the team, then it's a last hurrah type of team with playoff chances. If he retires, there's no doubt that you are in rebuilding mode. A WR with bonus incentives for 1000 yard seasons will surely have his salary determined by whether Rogers or Favre is the QB. One QB has a good chance to help him get the payoff, while the other pretty much guarantees that you aren't getting a bonus at the end of the season.
Basically if you keep Favre, you're trying for a final hurrah. If he leaves, you're in rebuilding mode. It has an impact on the draft. Do you trade for more picks since you are rebuilding or move up to get the impact player who might make your season? Do you draft another QB in case Rodgers doesn't pan out? If so, is there room for 4 QBs on the roster, if Favre stays? Do you draft an line-man high to protect Favre, or draft a different position and let the current lineman develop with their 2nd year QB?
If I cared for my team, family, or company I'd let them know my intentions so that they can plan accordingly and move on without me. As long as Favre is holding out his decision, he's handcuffing the front office in Cheeseland.

I'm sure the Bears are on their way. I mean after all they now have a decent backup QB (which one is the starter, or does it not matter in Chicago?) and they won one delusional title.
Tell you what, if Favre comes back and the Packers are healthy, I bet they take the division.

I would say mostly not... Thompson came out and said that he wanted to sign Marquand Manual and Ryan Pickett and that's what they did. His focus while he was building up the talent at Seahawks and while working under Ron Wolf has always been to build the team through the draft (he did draft Shaun Alexander and Steve Hutchinson)... The only UFA that it might have hurt them on was Vinatieri, though the speculation is that he wanted to kick in a dome anyway...

Seriously, are there any Packer fans that think that Manual, Pickett, Boerigter, and Cundiff are the missing pieces to the playoff puzzle? Is Terrence Murphy good enough to replace Javon Walker? Can the offense get back to a winning record considering that the Pack has lost Wahle, Rivera, Flanigan and didn't draft or sign anyone to replace them? Are Ahmad Carrol and Marviel Underwood adequate replacements for Sharper and McKenzie?
Favre is the glue keeping them together, and as glue gets older it doesn't keep things together as well. GB has finally gotten to the point where Favre isn't enough. I don't know if needs at guard, center, linebacker, cornerback, wide receiver, and defensive end can be addressed in one draft.
