I see the whole retirement debacle as just another reason to rip on Favre and Green Bay. As if I needed additional ones, but the more the merrier!

I agree it's fun to debate it...makes for good "office cooler" talk. For purely selfish reasons, I'd like him to just announce that he'll play again. I, for one, will miss seeing him play.

I can't for the life of me see why anyone who is not a Packer fan even cares if he delays his decision. It's us Packer fans that will have to suffer through another thirty years without a top notch QB.

I mean, look at the Bears. They haven't had a quality "franchise" QB since...since...hmmm, what? Sid Gilman? Sorry, is it Sid Luckman? I forget who the last franchise QB was for the Bears.

EDIT: Yes, it was Sid Luckman (the best QB the Bears ever had and retired in 1950)...still holds the Bears records for most career touchdown passes (137) and yards (14,686). In comparison to Favre's 396 TD's and 53,615.

Just thought I'd "throw" that out there for all Da Bears fans. :D

Yeah, but we have to live around you Packer fans. My neighbor is a hard core fan like you, and he has the same position as you in all of this. So while I really do not care, I must hear about it all the time. Thus, I am now involved.

As far as the Bears, McMahon left behind some good memories and a Super Bowl title. Does that make him a franchise QB? Here we go with another debate.

Oh yeah...over his career he passed for a total of 18,148 yards and 100 TD's (all teams he played for combined). The year the Bears won the SB, they could have played Ed McMahon with that defense and still stomped all over anybody they played.

And I apologize for Packer zealots. We sometimes forget there are other teams with other fans. I don't think I actually brought Favre up here...just defended his position. Seems a lot of people hate the guy (for personal or other reasons). The guy certainly earned the respect of other team's defenses and his records kind of speak for itself. Now if everyone was bashing Randy Wright, or Scott Hunter, I'd probably join in.

Well, it took a Packers meltdown for the Bears to win the division last year.

I suppose Bears fans need to find solace in something.

LOL. My dad had Randy Wright autograph my Packers football helmet when I was, Christ, probably in 3rd or 4th grade (that would have been 1986 or 87?)... I think I wiped it off the helmet after the Don 'Majik Man' Majkowski 1989 season... man, we thought Lindy Infante was the wave the of the future LMAO!

We believed (desperately) that anything was the wave of the future after Lombardi left.

And I'm sure we'll try to believe in whatever lame QB the Packers put out there after Favre retires too. :bawl: :D

Well, it's not that I can be...I am!

But still, I do apologize. There is a difference between being a fan, and a fanatic (more than a four letter difference to be sure).

I'm a huge fan of football in general and I really do appreciate guys from all teams that make the game great. I just feel fortunate to be a fan of a team that has (had?) a QB that made the NFL more exciting.

Oh yes, how could I forget...the Packers won the divisional title three years in a row and then despite having the same core team that won those three titles, last year got gutted by injury.

Yes, it was the ViQueens and the Kitty Kats faltering that gave the Bears the title.

It certainly wasn't the Bears winning it outright, right? They won it by default. There wasn't anyone left to win it. :D

Actually nothing a Bear's fan says about the Packers bothers me. I feel sorry for you, since you are rooting for Da Bears after all.

Actually the Packers last division title was a gift from the Viqueens as well. A fourth quarter victory by the Cardinals on fourth down with no time left against the Queens gave the folks in Cheesetown something to do on Sunday for another week. Polka bands in Milwaukee enjoyed the extra gigs for playing Packer rallys.

Whether the Bears earned it or won by default, it was nice to see that my economy sized bottle of Pepto Bismol was actually pretty full at the end of the season.

And Packer Backers words don't bother me either. I worked with developmentally disabled folks (******** for you Packer fans) for years, so I am professionally trained to deal with Packer fans. :smug: :D

You can't beat an old fashioned rivalry.

I was in Sports Authority just south of Belmont Ave a week or two ago, I didn't know that they even bothered to make Orton jerseys... at least no one was stupid enough to buy one (there with tons of them on the racks still).

Hopefully, da Bears can ruin another QB's career this season. Once Grossman goes down in training camp, Griese can go the way of Jim Harbaugh or Mike Tomzack or Cade McNown or Jim Miller or... :p

Now c'mon! I don't dislike Favre, and have a great deal of respect in him. Hell, I've always liked Green bay too. For you to say I am lumping Favre in with OWENS is way off, man. I don't think Owens should be allowed to play professional football. Period. I do think what Favre is doing is hurting his team. What Owens has done, and will continue to do scarred the league! Up to this year, Favre has earned people's respect on many levels. T.O. has earned respect purely on athletic accolades. It's his other idiosynchratic behaviors that make me wanna puke! Repeatedly.

:D Hey, if being accustomed to winning seasons makes us a little soft in the head, so be it... :p :D At least, our team didn't commit an atrocity to music when we won the Super Bowl last :eek: ;) How did the Super Bowl Shuffle go again...
