NFL Week #17

Pretty happy with the close of the regular season .... The Superbowl Champion New York Football Giants take the loss to the Vikings, but barely and while playing competitively with the 2nd string for the last half of the game. I'm actually glad to see MN in the playoff's, they're a decent team .... both Ward and Jacobs finish with 1,000+ rushing yards each, lots of the credit goes to the O-line :bassist:

Hoping that Ben's head-cruncher isn't serious, at least he has a two week rest period to let the brain cells fall back into place. Steelers made sure that on the last game of the season there was no doubt that their neighbors weren't worthy of being on the same field ..... get some well deserved rest, fellas .... ;)

The Jets stink :mad:. This season is exactly like every other Jets season, they can not close out the important games. I'm disappointed that their loss means NE is out of the picture, but happy for the 'Fins and Pennington. And please, send Farve(Favre??) packing .... $13 mil for that pitiful season shows exactly how mismanaged the Jets are :rolleyes:

The Dallas ChokeBoys are the classic example of how talent means nothing when you let ego's, 'tude, and self-involvement get in the way of being a team. Maybe Romo should stop trying to be a Jedi and just concentrate on being a team leader ...... ;)

i'm a life-long CowBoy fan , but , i gotta agree with you on these points .

so much talent , so little leadership .
freakin' Romo looked like he was gonna cry at the end of the second quarter ... :bawl:
c'mon , show some pride .

... and unless Jerry Jones gets a REAL coach , and not just some puppet ,
the 'Boys are doomed , again , next year .:spit:

Well we had a great time at Lambeau yesterday, pics forthcoming tonite. Not only did the Lions go 0-16, probably not many know they gave up the first single game duo tandem 100 yd rushers + duo tandem 100yd receivers in NFL history (Wynn/Grant and Driver/Jennings all went over 100 yds in that game yesterday).

So as disappointed as I am with our season, the off season should be interested.

Lots of collosal chokes yesterday.

The problem with the Cowboys is Jerry Jones. Jerry Jones wants big ego "superstars" that are either jailbirds (Adam Jones) or psychological headcases Terrel Owens) in addition Tony Romo has too much drama...if he was consistent nobody would care but he's not .

Wade Phillips is soft, they need a Bill Cower as a head coach/owner

i think someone like Cower would seriously knock some heads ...
and that's why Jones would never hire someone like him .

Or that the Colts, at what - 12-4? - have to go play *in* SanDiego in the playoffs just because San Diego's conference blows serious chunks and they squeaked in at 8-8. :eyebrow:

Um, I guess if Cowher can scrape up $1 billion + he can try to become head coach/owner.......

Your post is over-simplistic. Jerry wants to win Super Bowls. He just has no idea how to do it. Given his choice, he would have an entire roster of NFL league minimum salaries (it's cheaper that way;)).

I heard a really interesting thought today that I think may have some merit. It's common knowledge that championship teams are not built via free agency (or at least, very,very rare). I think one reason for this is that a team of free agents have very few shared experiences. They haven't lost together. They haven't learned how to win together. If you build your team the old fashioned way, they figure out the cost of success together. I think this may have some validity.

But I tell you this, stay tuned. I just can't think that Jerry is seriously considering opening up his new stadium with this guy as his coach.

I agree, them picking up Favre was a huge waste. I had a feeling he was only going to do one season with the Jets and it's certainly looking that way. They should've found a good rookie qb or a decent veteran that is a lot younger that could help develop the team for the long haul rather than just for a single season or 2 at most.

I'm not going to hold any grudges against Cowher if he takes the Browns job. He is no longer the coach of my football team, so he can do what he wants.

It has been reported by reliable sources that Cowher still has loyalties to Pittsburgh and the Steelers organization which would lead him to never take the Browns job. That is why I wondered out loud how much loyalty will come into play if they offer him the big time money and front office control.

It won't be a matter of just wanting to coach again either. There are already a few jobs open right now, some speculated to be open soon, and even more next year. I don't think he takes the Browns job just based on how bad they are, and will only be getting worse.

They did win five more games, and had a shot at the playoffs until late in the game yesterday. So it's an improvement from last year.

Too bad Kevin James got fired today though. Maybe Belichick will take him back.

Heck yeah, I totally agree. He has made some mistakes, but he only makes them once. Cowher can come back as DC when LeBeau retires if he wants to be back in Pittsburgh.

I could go on and on about how much I like the job Tomlin is doing, but I'll wait for the "I love Mike Tomlin" thread first. :D

Yup, an improvement, but they were 8-3 and somehow managed to completely spin out of control for the last five games :eek: After they beat up on Tennessee, they lost to DEN & SF (should have won both of those games), squeeked past Buffalo with a fumble recovery for a TD in the last minute, then lost to SEA & MIA .... that's not worth $13 mil by a long shot ..... :rollno:

I'm pretty impressed by Tomlin as well........I almost made that thread! :smug:

Some good news..........Pittsburgh Post Gazette reports that Ben was up and walking the halls at the hospital yesterday shortly after he arrived, and he went home last night, instead of staying overnight as originally planned.

Sounds promising to me! :)

Now that we have the benefit of the season to look back on, I think it can safely said the Packers made the right decision handing the reigns to Rodgers.
