Oh Drew is definitely in control, but in a totally different way - he doesn't expect you to follow his lead, then pout when you don't. Instead, he drags you kicking and screaming in his wake until you get it - he's the man, and you're gonna be much better off following instead of fighting him.

Oh, and believe me, Shockey ain't "too good" to let go, if he doesn't want to get with the program, he's toast - and he knows it. Remember the Saints drafted an RB in the 4th round a couple seasons ago (Antonio Pittman, I think he was with the Rams last I heard), he didn't make the grade, and was cut in training camp and replaced by an unsigned free agent rookie (Pierre Thomas). It's about production, not attitude.

Bad News: underrated Steelers defensive end Aaron Smith put on IR and out for the rest of the year:hmm:

Potential Good News: Troy Polamalu and Willie Parker both are on the practice field this week, could play against the Brownies if all goes well.

Sure, just not this season, yet.

They will get the nod from me for Tampa Bay for sure, that's 2 right there. Haven't looked at the rest of their schedule, but there will be games when I geniunely think they're the best team, and I'll pick them then. Can't think of any others because I don't know their schedule by heart, but I'm sure they will get a nod from me from time to time.

This week I can't figure out which of the two teams is better. So, I look at who each has played, Chicago has beaten the Steelers, and I feel the Steelers are one of the better teams right now, so I give the nod to the Bears. I don't take the Falcons D seriously, they are a weak spot right now, particularly against a good passing offense, which Chicago is turning into.

You misread my meaning. :)

My point is that if someone is being more "attitude" than "production", they sit, or go away.

TO would never have been considered for the Saints, BECAUSE of his crappy attitude. Payton knew Shockey (he coached him), and knew he could work with him and his aggressive attitude, that's why he's in black & gold.

You did pick them to beat Miami in game one, but it is rare to see an Atlanta pick from you.

Only in an honest/ real world situation. Not in Jerry's world:D

I like Payton a lot. He's a Parcells protege. I like that style of leadership.

BTW Payton brought Romo into Dallas:) and he was adament about Tony. Don't discount Romo due to poor coaching. He'd be all your rage if he were still under Payton's wing.

I'm jus' sayin'

True, I despise the Foulclowns, it's institutionalized, I'm a Saints fan! ;)

I have backed the black & gold since 1969 when I moved to NOLA, and the Falcons have been our arch-nemesis all that time, they still are.

Don't see you picking the Saints too often, either, right? ;)

Betcha you pick the Falcons to win the MNF game in a couple weeks.

In the Superdome...yeah...that'll happen. :D

FWIW, I am working on making it to the Saints-Falcons game in the Georgia Dome with a buddy that has season tix there. I get along fine with Falcons fans, as long as they don't mind me being a die-hard Saints fan. I won't like your team, but I'll respect you for supporting them, even when you're dead-wrong about them!

Payton felt that he could "shape" Romo, as Romo had the skill set he was looking for. However, once he got Brees, he found the perfect match. There was no way that Romo would ever have been a Brees-type player, coaching or not, he doesn't possess the correct frame of mind, he's too busy goofing off, chasing cute blondes (Brees let one come to him, much better, typical of the differences! ;) )

Very Very few young men do what Brees does. More often than not they're doing what Tony does. If it were that simple the military would have a lot easier job shaping grunts. I STILL say the goofing off/ chasing skirts you're talking about lies with poor coaching, and youth. Brees has a lot more experience and has dealt with more adversity WITHOUT the media adulation. Frame of mind can be taught too. If a child gets to wail away in the toy store, they'll ALWAYS wail.

Peyton saw something in Romo, that he could've probably refined into dare I say a better QB than Brees.

Brees has dealt with more man style stuff, Ie losing your job at the Chargers. Brees has more applicable football experience than Romo.

You'd have to cut your nose off to spite your face to say that Payton brought Romo in, But Romo's no good. If Romo's no good, Payton has poor instincts and in turn is "no good" in that reguard.

Can't have your cake and eat it too.;)

I hear ya. "Fast Willie" wasnt doing much, but an extra halfback is always nice.
I know there is only one "BUS" but the Steelers sure could use someone that can get that yard or two on 3rd downs and goaline stands.

Gard, The Rams strike me as vulnerable in the way the Titans are, and most likely going to get shot to pieces by the Jags, followed by another whooping on Tennessee in two weeks.

And, I say the Pats lose this week, just cause I think the poor Titans really aren't as bad as the Lions usually are... despite them having such a horrid pass defense and Brady passing like an artillery battery.

Truth be told, I just really hate Tom Brady, so anybody who beats them is a good buddy to me.
