NHL 2008

i dont call the people who rioted and destroyed our city real Habs fans, hockey fans or even sports fans for that matter.

Just a bunch of hooligans with no respect.
Unfortunately though the majority of people that go to the games and watch the games are those.

It sucks, because we come from a great city, and we have a great team, and neither deserve the rep they're getting because of stupid pseudo-fans.

It's pretty pathetic if you ask me. It's hard to enjoy games when your entire stadium just boos when the other team has the puck. It takes all the fun out of it.

What happened to sportsmanship? I agree that there is a certain amount of friendly rivalry and such, but more often than not, the line is crossed.

Who leaves the arena before the end of the game, just because your home team is loosing? What kind of supporter do you call yourself if you cant be there for your team, win or loose?

Pathetic. Id love to go see games at the Bell Center, but this is the main reason why i wouldnt go. All of the hooligans steal the tickets from the sane spectators who just want to enjoy a good hockey game.

+1,000. And this goes for "fans" of all teams and sports.

These are the two most legit mock ups floating around the Flyer's website forum. I think the first one is the one that they are going with as it is the vintage throwback.

The second one is an orange version of the RBK edge black home jersey they adopted last year. I don't think they will go with this one, but I like it none the less. When I got into the Flyers hockey teams didn't have alternates and when they did introduced them; they were the black scheme that is now the home jersey. So this is more like a throw back away jersey from the 80's and mid 90's

Flyers release their 3rd Jersey. It's the Vintage Throwback. Check it out.

Out sick yesterday, but the wings actually played some defense on Monday night to get their first shutout of the season. In fairness, Edmonton helped a bit by missing the net several times.

Sharks are looking scary good this season. I think Todd McClellan has a LOT to do with it. The Wings PP is doing great without him, but the defense is missing his presence at practice, imho. The real wings actually showed up Monday night for the first time this season, imho. Hopefully it'll continue. A Wings-Sharks WCF is going to be a flat out war, and a series for the ages.

Didn't Boucher have a pretty lengthy shutout streak a couple of years back? (funny thing while watching NHL on the Fly yesterday, they mentioned Boucher in goal and my wife threw a completely random Waterboy reference - saying she'd hate to see the goalie dropkick Holmstrom when he's in front of the crease then power bomb compliments of Captain Insano - oh wait, this is Brian, not Bobby Boucher. I guess my wife is watching way too much hockey with me these days:) )

I'd prefer them to be using the barberpole jerseys from the NHL 75th anniversary season, but that's just me. The calligraphy D with the Wings logo on the shoulders doesn't do it for me. The winged wheel and the red wings name didn't come about until 1932 while the stripe and D were from 1926. Contrived puts it VERY nicely, imho :)

On another random thought, speaking of the Flyers throwback jerseys, what are your thoughts on the Winter Classic jerseys this year?

I love the Pen's Winter Classic. As soon as I find one in my size that is not a Crosby or Malkin, I'm buying it. Maybe I'll find one while I am back home in a couple weeks.

As for the Detroit one....AWESOME! I totally want a Kronwall or Z. If my first name started with a D, that would be the coolest jersey ever.

-Mike

I don't like either of the retro jerseys for the Winter Classic. I do like those retro jerseys of the Flyers though. I've always liked the Sabres old jerseys as well (the "classic" one and even the ones they changed to in the mid 90s). I'd like to see Carolina play a game in Whalers uniforms, Phoenix with Jets uniforms, or Colorado with Quebec uniforms, but odds are that wouldn't happen. I remember hearing something about the city of Hartford owning the Whalers logo, but I may be misinformed.

Well schucks, I am the only dork who like the Wings retro jersey. I feel dumb now.

-Mike

At first glance I thought it was OK, but once I thought about it, it's contrived. You're not dumb for liking it. If my wife bought me one, I wouldn't complain by any means, and I'd certainly wear it. I'm just too much of a purist, especially for Original Six teams. IMHO a throwback jersey should be a copy of the old jersey, not a copy with new stuff added in. AFAIK the Pens and Sabres jerseys from last years Winter Classic were their original uniforms from when they joined the league - cool with me. If you want a non-Malkin or -Crosby river city sports is a great place to order from - 100% accurate customizing (not always the case with the lettering for wings jerseys I've seen offered elsewhere, including replicas from NHL.com a couple of years back), good customer service. I've ordered 4 jerseys from them over the years.

Check out the "barberpole" jerseys here: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

They wore those for the 75th anniversary of the NHL season. I have the sweater version of it from the CCM NHL Heritage line that was available then. I've been wanting to get the jersey version of it for a while but always ended up getting something else.

The Barber Pole Jerseys are kewl. I got a replica RBK Edge Mike Richards Jersey from NHL.com. I was a little disappointed. Took forever to get it and I was expecting the name, numbers and alternate captain patches to be just that....patches. Instead they were some sort of screen print. I've bought Nike and CCM Jerseys for the same price and they had an the heat applied logo patch but the Name, Numbers and Captain Patch (Lindros Jersey) Embroidered on.

I guess I have to pay for the authentic to get those details sewn on. $350 bucks is a bit of a stretch for an article of clothing that I'll actually wear.

I'll check out river city sports for sure.

I remember hearing something about the city of Hartford owning the Whalers logo, but I may be misinformed.

Nope, you're on the money there. That is the single reason why Whalers jerseys never appear in NHL video games anymore (in almost every NHL game, you can select various jerseys from the franchise's history. Even as far back as the Cleveland Barons if you choose the Devils. The Whalers haven't appeared for years because of the city deciding not to license it anymore).

This is also why there are no longer Whalers jerseys in production...you can buy Jets stuff, or Nordiques, or almost any defunct team, just not Whalers jerseys.
