NHL 2008

Oh Yeah; After a 5-2 loss in Montreal the Flyers bounce back with a 7-1 rout of the Caps. Niitty makes 25 saves in the 1st period alone!!!!

Hartnell gets a hat trick Carter ties Vanek with the league lead in goals scored!!!

Stoked on this win.

Nittimaki was friggin' phenomenal today. Washington played outstanding hockey in that first period, but Nittimaki just kept stoning them. He definitely saved us until we racked up some goals. But yeah, that was a nice response after getting shellacked in Montreal.

Niitty definitely stood on his head today. Flyers were outshot 48-28. Impressive.

I like that they are adding to their shorthanded goals; now with 13 on the year. This ties their total from last season.

It was a full day of hockey for me. After the Flyers game I watched the Pens come unglued against the Leafs (sorry Mike). I will say that the Leafs didn't play the type of hockey I like to see. Some would say it was smart hockey, but when I guy challenges you to fight; drop the gloves, don't just rag doll and let the other guy get the two minutes.

I also watched the Canucks play The Blackhawks. That was a defensive battle. Canucks could have won that one. They had their chances but couldn't capitalize. They are the western conference team that I like. Looking forward to see how Sundin will fit on that team.

Happy to see the Sharks beat the Rags. Caught the last period of that.

Trying to keep the NHL thread alive.....Where you at Mike and The Xym. Okay in all fairness; I'm assuming Mike is without power over in Lacey

YES!!!

Carter notches his 26th of the year and the Flyers hold off the Sens for another win.

Nodl nets his first as an NHLer. Flyers looked good. They let the Sens come back into it in the 3rd but were able to outscore them to get the win.

Yep, weather concerns have had me busy since Sunday morning.

The Pens are plugging along looking alright. We pulled out a win against the Sabres on Monday, which was nice. I got to see that game. We had no cable, and intermittent power, so I went to a casino with my wife for an early dinner. I noticed one of the TV's in the corner playing a hockey game, so I wandered over and it was the Pens!!! BONUS!!!

But then we go out and get shut out tonight by our former player Ryan Malone, and his Lightning. Sigh......

I noticed we signed Talbot for a couple more years. I'm glad to see Shero making some moves now so we aren't stuck having to sign 85 guys in the off season again.

My boy Fedotenko hasn't been filling stat sheets lately, but his play is making a difference on the ice. I hope we keep him around.

As for Staal......I guess I really had him overrated, or he is going through a major slump right now. He isn't doing much of anything, but Terrien keeps rolling him out there for big minutes.

You got shutout by the bolts,....ooooo, sorry to hear that. Staal is young. He'll have fits and spurts before becoming a solid talent. There is a lot to say about what a player does that doesn't show up in the scoring column. If he keeps his plus/minus in the positive that is a good indication of how good a player he is.

Fedotenko is classy player from what I've seen. The other night against the Leafs he got into a fight with Deveaux. Deveaux had turtled from a fight with Goddard and proceeded to pick on Fedotenko later in the period. Fedotenko isn't known for his scrapping. Kudos to him for sticking up for himself and his team against a dirty player; and a dirty team.

Yeah, exactly. I am reading about the game right now. Tampa Bay is pretty pathetic. Everyone was expecting them to be much better with the free agent moves they made, including stealing one of our guys.

So while I was reading notes on the Pens game over at ESPN.com, I saw this story below. This looks like bad news for the NHL....

I'll take the 1-0 over NJ, especially since my guy Fedotenko scored the goal. Fleury looked real sharp tonight, and came up with some big saves. It was also a chance to make up some ground since one of the teams we are chasing in the East dropped one tonight.

At least in the case of the Flyers, "dropped one" is putting it mildly. They looked horrible last night against the Black Hawks. Nothing worked right for them. Passes were off; timing was off; fanning on shots; etc. At one point my son said to me, "The Flyers look like a minor league hockey team playing against an NHL team." He was right. I sure hope it was just an anomaly, and they get back on track tonight against the Blue Jackets.

Not a good way to start a 6 game road trip. I had a gig last night and missed most of the 3rd. Not that I really missed it. Not really much to say. Too many penalties. You give a team two 5 on 3s and they are going to run the score up on ya.

Hartnell and Timmo both have foot injuries from blocking shots.

We'll see if they can bounce back.

As long as we are looking up at you guys in the standings, I have to show some respect. That all changes when we pass you guys in the standings though. :D

-Mike

Well that's about to happen if the Flyers keep up their lack of hard work they've been showing for the start of this road trip. Ugh.

Hartnell played tonight with a broken big toe.

Hopefully they keep the losing streak at 2 games. This was a game they should have won IMO. Instead they get shutout by the Blow Jobs.
