NHL 2008

Well the Comedy Channel has been awarded coverage of the NHL All Star game. The teams were announced today, the teams with the three best records in the league got shut out of the starting lineups thanks to the intelligent fan voting from Chicago and San Jose. Let's see should the best player in the league start, Nah We think Nick Lindstrom should be backup to Brian Campbell and Scott Neidmieyer. :eyebrow:

Their is homer voting and then their is stupidity.:hiding::hiding:

Yeah, me too. We're heading full steam towards .500, and probably out of the playoffs. Sorry.

I'm just about to the point where I am afraid to go to the Pens website anymore. Another day, another loss. I sure wish I knew what was wrong with these guys. Maybe we need a new coach.

We got zilch on a 5-on-3 tonight. Failed on eight more PP's tonight. Guys aren't concentrating, making stupid mistakes, getting mad on the ice. When I see that kind of crap in football games, I look to the coaching staff. All signs to me that a coach is losing his grip on the team. Maybe I'm wrong though.

I think the problem with the Pens is that they lack depth and character guys. They lost all their Character when they shipped off Armstrong and spent too much time waiting on Hossa to notice that Ryan Malone wasn't about to wait around for their offer. Not to mention, failing to close the deal with Hossa. Losing Roberts was pretty big in the Character department as well.

When a team lacks character and grit, and ices one line of superstars, they'll get shut down by any team with a decent checking line. They should take an example from the teams who are beating them, and add some depth. I'd say they need to spread the talent around a bit more, but Crosby and Malkin are the only players on that team talented enough to play side by side, and after Sykora and Satan, I don't see much going for the team... Maybe Staal will help stop the bleeding once he grows into his shoes. At least Fleury is a premier goalie, and will be for years to come. I don't watch the Pens all that much, but that's just my 2 cents.

Well the Comedy Channel has been awarded coverage of the NHL All Star game.....

So , it should be a fun game to watch !
Na !! It's laughable... (puns intended )

Seriously , they are the worst hockey game possible.
I prefer a Pee-Wee tournament over those........
The guys don't want to hurt each other , no passion , no guts.

The ability contest is pretty nice though.....

I'm wondering how my team is so awful even though we've got incredible players like Kovy, Little, and Armstrong...

Yeah, you lost to my lowly Pens Tuesday night.

In other news, we went ahead and locked up our "must sign" guy for this year, Jordan Staal. That is one less thing to worry about in the upcoming off season. Penguins, Staal strike new deal

I'm excited since I hope this will spark him to get back to playing well. He is a -9 in the last 10 games. Come on Jordan!!!!

Carter is the only Flyer. I thought Mike Richards and Kimmo Timmonin might be deserving as well. That's okay. Maybe it'll serve as motivation for them the second half.

Flyers got back on the winning track tonight against the Wild. I think the Wild were 10-0-1 against Eastern Conference teams before tonight. But they (the Wild) went 0 for 8 on the power play. The Flyers only had 1 power play the entire game, but scored about 5 seconds into it for what turned out to be the winning goal.

Yeah Habs and Pittsburgh fans stuffed the ballot box. I hate Kovalev. He shouldn't even be considered an All Star. Even Gagne deserves a spot on the roster. I don't know how they figure all stars out after fan balloting so maybe I'm missing something. As much as I love hockey I'll prolly miss the All Star game this year.

With the exception of Josh Gratton's turtle in the first it was a good game on the Flyer's part. They are getting that PK back into shape. The Refs sucked it up last night. 6 strait PPs for the Wild in the 2nd? Come on. I like how they killed each one of them and scored on the only power play they got the whole game. Take that zebras.

I have to agree that fan balloting is the worst possible way to determine who plays in the All-Star game... Any superstar players playing in non-nhl markets will end up getting shafted. As much as I love the habs, Komisarek and Kovalev don't deserve to be starting in East. Yes, Kovalev has all the talent in the world, but that doesn't mean the guy plays like a superstar night in and night out.

I think the best way to determine the All-Star lineups would be to ask the players themselves; they're the only ones who actually know who has the talent, and which players are the most difficult to play against. With the exception of Komisarek, all of the defence listed in the line-ups can move the puck and have huge offensive upside, and nobody knows better than the players that some of the most talented D in the league are the stay-at-home types - They rarely amass more than 15-20 points in a season, and for that reason, are far too often overlooked by the fans.

watching the Leafs/Flyers game. No complaints so far. I don't see Gratton playing so good move by the Flyers staff to send a message for his turtle in the last game. That isn't Flyers hockey and was the right move by them.

EDIT: Nice one Fly Boys. With that one Carter nets his league leading 29th of the season. Beautiful play by Upshall from the defensive zone to the offensive zone to set up Alberts for his first goal in over 100 games.

Biron seems to be finding his way which is good to see.

ANOTHER EDIT: Turns out Gratton had to have surgery.

Another night, another loss by the Pens. :(

I think one thing your Pens are lacking is an identity this year. Teams usually try to be a "high speed" team, or a "hard hitting" team. I just don't see that the Pens have established that this year. They've got 40 games to get back into the PO picture.

EDIT: The Pens and Flyers battle on Tues. We'll see how it goes, and I might have more insight. If the Pens win perhaps it will be a moral boost for them. There is quite a rivalry there.

Then I find out my favorite Pen, Ruslan Fedotenko, is out 4-6 weeks with a broken hand. He was really playing well and helped us win some games. :bawl:

Seems like injuries are way up this year for the league as a whole.

I see... so the Sharks, with the league's best record (67 points after 41 games to date) got shut out of having any starters because of the "intelligent, homer" voting from... wait for it... San Jose???
Care to explain that amazing leap of logic? :rollno:

.
Their is homer voting and then their is stupidity.:hiding::hiding:

And then there is using 'their' instead of 'there' twice in the same sentence to point out the 'supidity' of others.
Priceless... :hmm:

Sorry I meant Anaheim, my bad, that doesn't excuse you being an jerk. :hmm:

Are you really arguing that it was an intelligent selection process by the fans or even close? I'd love to hear someone as intelligent as you make the case, with your fine grasp of the English language.:rollno:

Krecji should be up there with Savvy, Z, and Timmy. Actually . . . just call the Bruins the east coast team, and the guys from Providence who are playing for us can give their spots to Ovechkin and Kovalchuk. (Hunwick stays, of course)

Wow...
Way to instigate and then turtle and play the victim. Jordan Tootoo would be proud of you. :p

Thanks for the correction that it was fan bases of Chicago and Anaheim that you were calling out for their "stupidity" (your word, not mine).

that doesn't excuse you being an jerk. :hmm:
I'd be really careful of using the "j" word if I were you. You insult the fan bases of two NHL cities (including mine) on their "stupidity" and then call me a jerk for quoting your own illogical words back to you asking for an explanation? Pot, may I introduce you to kettle.

Are you really arguing that it was an intelligent selection process by the fans or even close? I'd love to hear someone as intelligent as you make the case...
I bet you would. I was quoting your own words to you and asking you to explain yourself, not arguing anything. But feel free to put whatever words in my mouth that disagree with your opinions and argue with yourself all you wish.

I'd love to hear someone as intelligent as you make the case, with your fine grasp of the English language.:rollno:
I make no apologies (nor should I have to) for having an education. I LOVE irony... now by all means please get back on topic and keep whining about how the "stupid homer" fans of other teams kept your guys off the roster. :D

Be happy they'll be able to get some needed rest!

Wait? What did San Jose fans do wrong? I don't get it? We are on top and there are only 2 players from our team... You don't think Joe Thornton does not deserve to be in all star?

And BOYLE with 34points? Most points for Defensive player so far in league?
