I believe the ligament damage occurred as a result of his awkward fall, not the check itself. But, there appeared to have been some (inadvertent) knee contact during the check as well.
James Neal out with a concussion from the elbow he took from Del Zotto. Just start calling Pittsburgh Concussion Country.
Yeah, when I saw the hit, I remember thinking how awkwardly his legs contorted as he was falling to the ice.
The Pens have one guy with a concussion, same as Anaheim, Boston, Ottawa, and the NYR.
Montreal and Philly have 2. And I'm not counting players who've had their careers most probably ended by concussions and who are still technically on the roster in Pronger and Savard.
Just offering some perspective.
Sure wish Lucic would play like the power-forward the Bruins drafted him to be. A 6-million dollar player he is not.
Totally agree. Sometimes I think he is playing for his big paycheck only.

Is anyone else exited for the Frozen Four this Thursday and Saturday? I'm hoping for a Yale/Quinnipiac championship game on Saturday.

Lucic makes poor decisions all the time. The worst is thinking he can dangle near that O blue line.... god I hate that.
Go River Hawks! Should be a good tournament. This is UMass-Lowell's first trip to the Frozen Four. Hopefully they can ramp the offense up a bit, but Hellebuyck has been on fire between the pipes. Only two GAs on 131 shots in two games of the Hockey East Tourney and two games in earlier rounds of the NCAA tourney. That's a 0.985 save percentage for those of you keeping track at home. As a Freshman, hopefully he can rise to the occasion.
Jagr looked very good tonight; assisted on both of Marchand's tallys. The B's still have to sort their offense out a bit, but Jagr's still got some skill and he's very strong on puck possesion. He also made a nice backhand pass after doing a 720 out near the blue line to keep play going in the offensive zone. The Marchand-Campbell-Jagr line looked pretty solid all night.
Jagr also uses the area behind the net better than any Bruin, I've seen over the last few years. I've heard the expression Gretzky's Office, but until I saw Jagr operate from there in the first game, I didn't totally understand what can be done from there.
The guys he plays with are still a little too deferential to Jagr, if they can get over that in the next 10 games or so, it will be good.

Leafs played great again last night. Nice to see them keeping the push going the through the stretch this year.

Off the top of my head, Crosby, Neal, Malkin, and Letang all have had concussions in the past couple of years. I'm sure I'm missing a few.
Gretzky used to score from behind the net by bouncing the puck off goalies' & defenders' backs. He's made a few passes from there too. To that kurri kid.
The Hurricanes almost scored one of those over the back of the net goals on Rask last night; but it was ruled (correctly IMHO) that it was kicked in so it didn't count.
One quick observation on the Carolina-B's game - it was nice to see some offense (5 goals) from the B's but I was very impressed to see Carolina fighting hard in the 3rd and putting up two goals to make it game when they easily could have mailed in that period.
Given the number of assists that the Great One had, Kurri must have buried a few of those passes. I wish I had been paying more attention to hockey back then.
