NHL 2013 regular season thread!

There is NO way Reimer will win any trophy in the NHL. Sorry, but you're seriously overestimating him and/or have not had the privilege of being exposed to non-Leafs goalies.

Vezina might go to either ; Price, Rask, Backstrom, or Fleury. These are the 4 I have in mind.

The Hart, it depends. The candidates could be ; Crosby and Ovechkin. I'm undecided as to who else could win it. Lots of useless players but nobody else sticks out for me. Stamkos sure is efficient but considering where Tampa Bay is, I don't think he'd win the Hart even if he happens to win the Maurice Richard.

Kovalchuck should be back with New Jersey soon. Coach is saying he'll play before he fully recovers from his shoulder injury.

Minnesota loses Heatley for the rest of the season. Tough loss for them as they fight to hang on to the seventh spot in the west.

Tough win for the B's last night. We pulled ahead of the Habs, but I am afraid it will be short-lived as Marchand got elbowed in the head and is out - no official word yet from the team, but I suspect a concussion. Volchenkov got a 5-minute major (on which the Devils scored a shorthanded goal - the B's scored 2 shorties - it must have been backward day at the Meadowlands), a game misconduct, and I hope a call from the league office and a 3-5 game suspension.

I concur. Rask has been steady and he has had to make more and tougher saves than he should have given that the B's defense was not as tight this year as it was the last couple of seasons. He deserves consideration, but, I wouldn't be disappointed if Bobrovsky or any of the other guys Strat-Mangler mentioned got it.

As a lifelong Bruins fan I have to say that Marchand (or "Rat-faced Killah" as many knuckleheaded fans call him), is great to have on my favorite team, but admit I would hate him in a Montreal uni. :D

That hit was bull$hit and blatant!

Can't imagine the HABS being anywhere near where they are today, in the standings, without Price. I think he's a lock, unless something changes very soon. We'll be seening the HABS this weekend... should be a great game. ALways interesting when the Leafs and Habs go at it.

Clips from last year or the year before. So now its open season for the rest of his career? from players that he hasn't had previous history with? Does that make any sense at all?

Just as Subban as grown up a bit this year so has Marchand. It happens sometimes as players get older, they mature.

I personally don't believe he's a lock. As a previous poster has stated, there are no clear winners this year. I tend to agree, which is why my list was rather long to begin with... and yes, Bobrovsky definitely belongs in that list.

Price has been good but not fantastic. Last year, he was standing on his head making saves. This year, he gets easily beaten by straight shots. His positioning is his forté, hence why he's so efficient, but you can easily see how he's routinely beaten by good shooters in 1-on-1 situations.

Also a pretty mediocre shootout goalie, too.

Though Cooke has certainly changed his game for the better, do you sincerely believe that all is forgiving the moment the season ends? Things carry over. You build yourself a reputation over time.

I know from first-hand experience that it's next to impossible to shed a bad reputation. Is it possible? Sure, in theory. He'll have to prove it over a period of time...

Having said that, head injuries are the worst. Don't know what Volchenkov was thinking... :rollno:

My three for Vezina: Price, Emery, Bobrovski, not necessarily in that order. All three have been stealing games this year for their teams, multiple times over.

Crazy year because as far as voting for the awards goes, aside from the injury to Crosby, there's no one in my mind that's really been standing out.

Very hard to shake your dirty reputation once you earn it. Cooke (who certainly earned his!) has cleaned his game up and completely changed the way he plays over the past couple of years. That long playoff suspension was a real wake up call. Call it being a homer, but I haven't seen him do anything dirty for a very long time. Yet, you have idiot GMs claiming things like he intentionally injured Karlsson. You can never shake it.
