NHL 2013 regular season thread!

4 games for Volchenkov for his hit on Marchand. That's gonna hurt the Devils.

Not sure if it was representive or not - but I looked at one hockey board where the Devils fans were pretty unanimous about hoping that the suspension would be a long one since Volchenkov has not played particularly well this year. I'm assuming that "Pylon" was not meant as a compliment.

Though Cooke has certainly changed his game for the better, do you sincerely believe that all is forgiving the moment the season ends? Things carry over. You build yourself a reputation over time.

I know from first-hand experience that it's next to impossible to shed a bad reputation. Is it possible? Sure, in theory. He'll have to prove it over a period of time...

Having said that, head injuries are the worst. Don't know what Volchenkov was thinking... :rollno:

Fair enough, I could see more time needed. Marchand has the better part of a shortened season in the good column; I hope he will be able to come back. The B's don't go very far without him and Bergeron.

Honestly, it didn't appear that Volchenkov was thinking. His reaction was that he sort of surprised himself or didn't quite believe what he did.

So the white flag is waving. Pretty much mathematically impossible for the Flyers to make the playoffs now. I have a feeling that more then players will be moved this off season. Bummed out.

I'm just not sure what should happen. I think there's a good likelihood that Laviolette and even Holmgren will get the axe. But with most of their defensemen out injured for so long, is it really their fault? Maybe so, but I still think Laviolette is a good coach. We'll probably find out soon enough though, because they will not be in the playoffs this year. This was a very disappointing season. And as a Flyers fan since the '70s, I KNOW disappointing seasons... ;)

Not sure who I'll be pulling for in the playoffs. I'll at least figure out who I'm rooting for in each series once the final seedings are determined.

The Habs clinch a Playoffs spot.

Jets are hanging in there and are 3-0 in their 6-game stay at home.

Could the Islanders really participate in the Playoffs for the first time since I can ever remember? Crazy.

I watched most of the Isles-B's game last night - the answer to your last question is yes. They are playing 60 minutes of solid hockey. The B's played reasonably well - the Isles played better. Bailey's first goal was a laser that pinged the inside of the top right corner - very impressive shot. Don't let the score fool you - if Rask wasn't sharp this would have been 4 or 5 to 1.

I know nothing about college hockey.......

College hockey is awesome, I love it. Living in the middle of some really good teams helps, and having Dartmouth just a few miles up the road lets me to get to a bunch of games during the season.

Hopefully you get more involved after checking out the Frozen Four final on Saturday. I would love to be at that game.
