NHL 2013 regular season thread!

Kings are clinging desperately to 4th in the West, and trying to get home ice advantage for the first round. With just one point separating the Kings and Sharks - and two more game against each other - it's going to go to the wire. With the Sharks only losing one home game in regulation so far this season, it's not an advantage we want them to have.

I think it is great for the league that the Isles matter again - Long Island is a good hockey region.
Yeah. Too bad the owner (Wang) is a total idiot who knows absolutely nothing about hockey. Management is also not very swift.

But even guys that weren't originally drafted at all (Moulson) are performing above expectations. Now, I hope Snow doesn't screw it up.

They're also still paying for the Yashin contract... and let's not forget the DiPietro contract. UGH!

Flyers

Bryzgalov is almost certainly getting bought out at this point. I think they have to buy out Briere as well just for the cap space. Would lvoe to have a third buyout for Meszaros but they're going to have to find some team to trade his fragile body to thinking maybe he'll shake the injury bug and get whatever they can out of him.

Do not trade away the core youngsters. Do not trade away draft picks. Draft defense and stcokpile defenseman for a while.

That was the death knell this year, having absolutely no depth in the organization this year on defense. Way too many breakdowns.

And someone has to get the goalies watching a lot of tape of other teams.

Using my best Dr. Evil voice-

The B's are likely to finish either 2nd or 4th in the conference, so we may meet again Mr. 15. :D

Indeed we will!! :) looking forward.

Yep, LI was a great place to be a kid in the late 70s and 80s! Hockey was so relevant. So was music! Much has changed, unfortunately. But I am enjoying my Isles from the comforts of Cary, NC!

Ugh that last paragraph...can't believe you went there :(

Uh, no offense but you might want to take off the homer glasses because it was pretty even. Crombeen won't even have a mark when he wakes up today. :p

I'm no Pens homer, but I'm assuming he was talking about how the fight unfolded. Crombeen clearly started the fight. Murray tried to avoid it for awhile; but when he felt that they had to go, he took off his helmet. Crombeen, on the other hand, despite being the one intent on starting the fight, wouldn't reciprocate and decided to leave his hat on. I have more respect for Murray in that situation.

But you're right in that it ended up being pretty even.

Ah. Sounded (to me) that Murray overwhelmingly won the fight. I watched the video and was surprised that anybody would think that.

Yet another example of how the written language can easily be misinterpreted. Of course, it would've helped to have the context written as a prefix to the comment, but it's all good. :D

Thanks for clearing that out, Jeff!

Man, when it rains, it pours.

The Flyers' Bryzgalov was accused by the media of sleeping during a team meeting. His response ;

"That's embarrassing," the 32-year-old responded. "You have to prove your sources. You became (unprofessional) journalists."

You have to be better. Step up guys. Prove your information. Find reliable sources."

Bryzgalov was asked the question after the Flyers' 3-1 loss to the Ottawa Senators Thursday night. The defeat was the Flyers' third straight loss and the latest episode in a season to forget for Philadelphia, who sit 12th in the Eastern Conference Standings with a 17-20-3 record.

The former second-round draft pick has been under fire lately for past comments to the media. Asked earlier this week about buyout rumours, he said he didn't care whether he stayed in Philadelphia or not.

Bryzgalov is in the second year of a nine-year, $51 million contract.

I've been a Habs fan my entire life. Its nice to see them finally have a good team. With the chemistry they have, and if Price can somehow find a bit of passion, I think we can go all the way.
I'm tired of reading how they are too small. I know the game has changed and everyone wants the big guys, but it would be really cool to see a skilled team win over size and brawn. After all, hockey has the highest skill level of any sport in the world. You won't realise that until 1. You have actually played and 2. You have played with high level players.

I agree that Montreal is a really good team. They sure have the Bruins' number this year. I love the rivalry and think it's great for both cities.

I hope the Bruins snap out of their funk; last night they just got outplayed I hear (actually had a gig and could only see part of the game), and their "win" over the Devils was not exactly convincing.
